My machine is displaying the replace photoconductor, it still works but we are wondering what it takes to replace this piece and the cost and possibly is there any ay to reset it?

The PC unit is user replacable. The life of the unit is 45000 impressions. Customer cost for the unit is $213.52 + tax. It can not be reset but if your copy quality is OK it dosn't hurt to run the machine as is. When you start experiencing quality problems you will have to replace it. Just contact your local RICOH authorized dealer and order the part. It will come with installation instructions.

I have several of these ricoh 1515 copiers all working fine and then posting a need photocunductor error. Is this some preset error that comes after so many copies like HP got sued for or is the...

Hi, the "Replace Photoconductor" message does come up after a preset number of copies, typically about 60,000. The photoconductor will still continue to work fine, and even with the message displayed the copier should run like normal. The message will keep flashing until you replace the photoconductor, and then it will automatically detect the new unit and the message will disappear.

There is a little green light that is flashing when I try and print certain documents.. Is this the error warning? Also it is telling me to replace my photoconductor, would this be the reason it is not...

The flashing green light means that the machine is receiving the print data that you are sending when trying to print. Depending on how the dealer set up the machine, yes it will shut down and stop printing when the "replace photconductor" indicator comes on. You will either need to order a replacement unit or have a local service guy come out and reset the counters. If you order your own unit, it will come with installation instructions and they are designed to be end user replaceable.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya

We have message to Replace Photocondutor. Is that toner? If not, s it self-install or do we call for Tech?

Most photoconductor assemblies are what they call "CRUs". That means that they are Customer Replaceable Units.

Check with the Ricoh web site "Support" to verify the installation process and order the part.

IF you replaced the entire PCU, make sure you pulled the plastic tabs from the unit and removed the protective paper from the drum area. I don't remember if the new PCU comes with developer pre-installed.
If you replaced the drum/developer, it is common for the lower developer unit drive gears to wear down and break off some of their teeth.

Hope this helps.

Replace Photoconductor

the internal alarm for the 45k interval has been reached therefore the machine warns it needs a new drum... considering the streaks its best you change it but it should be done by a tech cause although it is pretty easy to replace the internal counter has to be pushed forward for the next 45k

Replace photoconductor message keeps appearing

Reset it .
If you are enter service mode 5-912 default 60K just input Zero "0" this will deactivate the PCU counter.

If it is bad you will have to replace it. It is the Photoconductor(Drum / Developer) Cartridge

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
