Question about Midland M222P (22 Channels) 2-Way Radio
Can someone tell me how to unlock the channels on Midland M222P.
I think by "unlock the channels" you mean bypassing the transmit power restriction on FRS channels. Basically, the GMRS channels are the only ones that allow full power transmissions. I'm not familiar with that particular model; however, I have used many other FRS/GMRS radios (including those manufactured by Midland). My guess is that the restriction is programmed into the hardware itself. The microcontroller would have to be reprogrammed. I would highly doubt this is even possible since many devices that are mass produced, have there programming hard-coded onto some sort of rom. It would be easier to build your own radio, then you could transmit at any power on any frequency. One more thing, those restrictions are in place for a reason, it's against the law to transmit on FRS channels at a power level of greater than 1/2 watt. The FRS channels are there for a reason, you don't need an FCC license to use them. Anyway, I hope this clears up any confusion.

Press and hold the Lock key for 5 or 10 seconds until a beep sound is heard.
