Have just bought a car with the OHD1040 DVD unit and no manual. The DVD plays and we have sound but no picture. Does anyone know what to do?

This unit has 2 inputs, you need to make sure it is set to the correct input. If it is then you need to check all the plugs and wiring to make sure all the plugs are attached and that none have fallen out.

Where do i put the dvd in at and how to turn it on

  1. Press the open/close latch on the front of the DVD player.
  2. When the screen drops down look up at the compartment where it was. Press the upper right hand corner button on the DVD player to drop the little black tray.
  3. Just place the DVD in upside down and click it into place.
  4. Now close the little black try.
  5. The unit powers up as soon you drop the screen down. You can also power it on with the remote power button which is all the way up and all the way to the left on the remote.

Player will not shut off at all...

There are typicly two types of 12 + volt connections that could be made to this unit.
1. Constant = continouse 12+ volts
2. switched = Power is controled by the ignition switch.
There is a small internal battery inside that unit that is only used previde power to that units memory, and does not provide enough power to operate the player.
Its possable that the power supply needs to be changed to a switched circuit.
Hope this helps. Good luck...

The steering remote control input is for a wired remote control, or a third-party interface that allows you to adapt vehicle steering wheel controls to operate your deck. Your problem is the parking sensor wire. This is supposed to be connected to your vehicle's parking brake switch. It detects when the brake is set, and will prevent a picture from showing when it's not set. The intent is to prevent you from watching movies while the vehicle is in motion. If you can get a good look at the parking brake mechanism, you should be able to see the brake switch. Usually there's a single wire coming from the switch, which is built onto the parking brake mechanism. Connect your parking sensor wire to the wire coming from this switch.

SOUND NOT GETTING ANY

it may seem obvios but take the dvd player out of the dashboard and check all connections.if this fails you may have to take it to a audio specialist to check if the internal amplifier of the unit is functioning correctly.
