Pink tint in pictures taken using canon s500

I am having a canon s500 digital camera for almost 4 years. Recently while trying to take pictures using it i am getting a pink tint in oth the viewing sceen and the pictures particularly when taken in bright light Just returned from Panama and photos are pink (sky is hot pink!)where they should be white. Thin pink line appears at top of the viewfinder/monitor. Canon Powershot S500 digital used. [email protected]

If so, Canon should fix this for you for free if you live in the US, Canada, and a select few other countries. If you live outside the US, contact Canon support for your country to see if they'll still honor the advisory (some still will, especially if you stress you knowledge that this is a known defect of the camera). Try this...go into the menu and scroll to "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions.

I have a canon powershot A70. Pictures have a pink tint to them.

Contact Canon at 1-800-828-4040 and they will fix it.

I had a similar problem and it turns out to be a known problem with the CCD chip in the camara. Contact Canon and they will give you instructions to return the Camera including shipping labels. They will cover the cost of the repair regardless of the warrantee status and they are quick. You pay shipping one way.

The only issue i have is that the problem has returned a year later and I have to send it back. But I calledCanon and they said they would cover it.

Pictures appear with a pink background

I had the same problem with the Canon PowerShot S410. I called Canon and they said it was a known issue. They are going to send me a return, paid postage label and replace the sensor at no cost. Canon rocks!
