Pink tint in pictures taken using canon s500

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager, and is a known defect for your particular model camera.. Try this...go into the menu and scroll to "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions.

Contact Canon at 1-800-828-4040 and they will fix it.

I had a similar problem and it turns out to be a known problem with the CCD chip in the camara. Contact Canon and they will give you instructions to return the Camera including shipping labels. They will cover the cost of the repair regardless of the warrantee status and they are quick. You pay shipping one way.

The only issue i have is that the problem has returned a year later and I have to send it back. But I calledCanon and they said they would cover it.

I had the same problem with the Canon PowerShot S410. I called Canon and they said it was a known issue. They are going to send me a return, paid postage label and replace the sensor at no cost. Canon rocks!
