Question about Windchaser PACR90 Portable Air Conditioner

Missing window vent kit

I bought this air conditioner two or three year ago (Windchaser PACR93) form a closeout sale on the last day of the store's existence. When I got home and removed it from the taped up box, I discovered that the vent kit was missing (buyer beware Right?) I have been searching for one ever since. Without that crucial part, my AC is totally useless. Now I am on the search again as I am opening a cat shelter and could use the unit to ensure cool cats (lol). Hope you can help me.

None of the vent kit was enclosed in the box. Just the AC itself.

Do you at least have the outside air and hot air hoses that came with it? Or did they not provide those either? I have a similar unit so I know what a pain it can be without that window kit.

I have a year old KUL portable air conditioner that needs to be reset constantly. It flashes error code P1 (indicating the water needs to be drained) when there is no more that 1/2 a cup of water in the resevoir. My husband cannot remember where he put the paperwork for the unit, so I don't know how to contact the manufacturer to see if anything can be done to effect a fix of the problem.

Where to purchase Windchaser PACR10 hose 5?

Why don't you contact the store where you bought it. Or google user manual and find the part Number. Sometimes its easier to call the manafaturer, ask them. They could probably replace it for you.

Windchaser PACR9 troubleshooting

Hi Jeff,
There is an air leak somewhere inside.
  • Check that all windows are properly shut.
  • If the unit has an air exchanger, make sure it is closed.
  • Or there is a lot more Moisture (Humidity) in the air inside your quarters.
  • Check for massive dirt ( dust) build-up on the condenser or evaporator.
  • Lastly, do not forget to clean the filter too.
Good Luck!

I need two fan blades (squirrel cages) for the lower blower on 2 windchaser air conditioners, cant find parts.

A lot of portable units come out of overseas factories that build a certain amount for production and sales. They rarely supply any parts for after sales service however, as a lot of these machines are co-branded with other manufacturers, you may be able to acquire fans from another manufacturer. The only problem is determining what model number they use. You could try having a look in a retail store and picking one that is exactly the same a s yours but may be a different brand. You need to be definite though. Often the knobs, stickers, filter covers etc are different but when you have a very close look at the main parts such as the body mouldings, air inlet and outlet positions etc. You will soon pick which ones are the same machine, just different Brand..

Turns off showing E5

Unfortunately, unless you still have the Owner's Manual for you unit, you may never know what the E5 error code indicates. Windchaser went out of business about 4 or 5 months ago. And with them went any and all information about their AC units and other products they manufactured & sold. In addition, unless, it's an interchangeable part, there are no Windchaser OEM parts available at this time.

Amazingly, there are some retailers that still have the units for sale, but are not telling the customer that the company is out of business. I guess they just don't want to get stuck with the discontinued units.

I wish I had better news & information for you. But, it is what it is.

Yes, it definitely requires venting via an exhaust hose(s) (flexible duct) connected to a window converter.

What is a bottom blower? No bum jokes, please! I think it's something to do with engineering, but not too sure.

the bottom blower in a PAC9 is the blower motor that sucks room air in through the bottom vents of the unit through the condenser. this air removes heat from the condeser and is blown out through the warm air vent duct. A common failure on windchaser units is the 'bottom blower squirrel cage' which is a plastic fanblade.

I need a adaptor that will allow me to vent my Windchaser Pac9 Model SA12059 through a window. Do you know where I can find one?

Sadly this company seems to be out of business, parts unavailable. You can get a little creative and make the pieces you need from off the shelf parts at lowes. I used a plastic pumbing fitting, some vent hose, two small metal brackets, zip ties, and thick foil tape to seal it.

The e-5 error message is caused by overheating. I had the same error messager a few months ago.
The problem was the air vent on the left side of the unit was clogged with fuzz from the carpet and dust which had accumulated over a two year period.
To fix the problem use a vacuum hose with a brush and try to get the bristles underneath the plastic grill and vacuum the metal radiator type unit underneath the plastic.
When the air vent is cleaned the unit will resume normal operation.
I had to (finally) unplug the unit and take it outside and clean the vent with a waterhose to get all of the gunk out. I also purchased a sheet of charcoal filter (a few dollars) and velcro and put my own makeshift filter on the outside of the housing over the air vent on the left side.
