Worked on two other computers now it won't work on my new one....help?

I've just got a new dell computer and I'm trying to make my hp officejet 6110 work on it. It has previously worked on a hp pc and a hp laptop but now I'm getting nowhere! I have downloaded the relevant drivers from the hp website and for a start the printer appeared on the pc and said it was functional however when I actually tried to print something there was an error.....how does this happen? I'm lost I don't know what else to try!

Right click on the My Computer icon and select Properties. Does it say 64-bit anywhere on the General tab?

    Hello Elizabeth,

Are you using Vista on the new computer? If so, there is no driver to download. Comment back please and we'll go from there.

It will not scan. It copies and prints but it will not scan.

I had the same problem-- reinstalling the software with no results. I hooked the printer to my old laptop which had worked with the printer in the past and was able to scan. I installed the "HP Solution Center" which came with a newer printer onto my new 'problem' computer. It recoginized the 6110. I re-set the buttons on the scanner and it has worked since.

Looks like it is a 'driver/program' problem between the printer and computer.

Hope this helps.

I suspect this is not the printer problem. The problem may be the operating system issue. (Memory management)

HP OfficeJet 6110 Prints very slow then aborts about 1/3rd way through print

I identified this issue with my Officejet 6110xi All-in-One as firmware corruption. Attempting to install the supplied firmware update gave the error that "no hp device connected to the computer would benefit from it at this time." Attempted to power down the printer using #9 keystroke and got "FULL RESET" message, but problem of extremely slow printing and erratic behavior of the print heads persisted. I solved the problem by putting the printer outside in cold weather for two (2) days. This frequently resets firmwares with software corruption back to their embedded EEPROM state. Hooked the printer back up and worked fine. If cold weather is not available you could try other creative methods of cooling the device, just use a plastic bag and with ideally some drying packets thrown in to prevent excessive moisture buildup in the cold environment. The colder it is the faster the firmware resets.
