Question about D-Link NetDefend DFL-200 Firewall
I'm trying to connect a Buffalo terastation(storage media) through the internet so that they can store files on it.
I have no problem accessing it from anywhere except through a server that passes through a DFL-200 firewall. Now since this product is end of life i cannot get any support from dlink on this issue.
I gave the terastation a static ip ex: 126.96.36.199 (public address)and the server which is at another site is behind that DFL-200 firewall with an ip ex: 192.168.1.10 and gateway of: 192.168.1.1
From home i was able to click on start, run then type the address like so to map it: ex: run:\\188.8.131.52 and was able to connect to it and map the drive.I did this at 4 other places to test and make sure i had no problem accessing it.
Now when i try from that server i cannot connect to it in order to map the drive so they can back up their server to it.
I tried reading the manuals that i found but am still not getting anywhere.
I'm not sure if i have to configure a policy and then port forwarding or even if i'm doing this right. Can anyone please help me to figure out what needs to be done in order to allow that server to reach the terastation so i can map a drive to it and finally be able to backup their stuff on it.
This is what the setup looks like:
server ip: 192.168.1.100
Virtual Private Network (VPN) endpoint and pass-through support. Additional firewall features include custom and policy-based filtering options. These options have to be configured properly.
Check your configuration level and access policy.
If its a public server you have to place it in DMZ.
Check IP settings of the server. U may require a VPN tunnel
