Question about Hamilton Beach BrewStation 47214 Coffee Maker

1 Answer

Leaking Coffeepot My Hamilton Beach Brewstation leaks coffee all over the countertop sometime after it cuts off. We come home and coffee is all over the counter. Has anyone else had this problem? I love our Brewstation Deluxe overall, but the tank is poorly designed. It's two pieces instead of one. On my unit, the seal along the bottom is fine while the tank is hot, but as soon as the coffee maker turns off and the tank starts to cool, the seam separates just enough to cause the coffee to leak all over the counter. Hopefully, the new Summit model will be designed differently. I've replaced my coffee tank twice in two years due to this same issue.

No, it's not the rubber seal at the outlet, it's the actual seam along the perimeter of the tank. I ordered a new one from Hamilton Beach and everything is ok again for now. I hope, at some point, they redesign the tank because I really like the coffee maker overall.

there is a small rubber flap valve in the tank. if you carefully clean that on a regular basis your problem should end.

We have a Hmilton Beach 12 cup Brewstation that has leaked all over the counter with every cup we pour, from the very beginning. This is our second unit and we did not hve this issue with our first one. We...

I have gone through 2 of those machines. The first one had the same problem, so I took it back and got another which also performed the same way. The resolution for the second one seemed to be to make sure no coffee or water was left in the resevoirs and the machine has to be unplugged after each use. We only use the machine outside/or when we're camping. And now that's it's not ruining my countertop, it seems to be okay. Since I had already returned the first one I decided to just deal with it. Best of luck to you.

HAMILTON BEACH BREWSTATION LEAKS FROM SPOUTS

I had the same problem with this same machine. On this model there is a spring-loaded piece of plastic that operates the pouring of the coffee. After a few months of regular use, there is a design flaw in this piece that wears out prematurely, causing the pour to slow down. This is why the stream runs towards the machine and not in your cup.

Eventually the plastic piece will break at the weak point and will stop pouring altogether. To make matters worse, HB uses a weird screw that you cannot turn unless you have the right bit, and, once you do finally get to the piece, there is no where to order a replacement.

Summary: Hamilton Beach built an intentional flaw that is difficult/impossible to repair so you will need to purchase another machine in under a year.

Brewstation Leaks

Mine did the same thing, except I have the model #47665 because the model you have I had to replace twice. It would start/stop numerous times during brewing. Anyway, if yours leaks coffee the same as mine it's because the tiny plastic part holding the small rubber gasket that controls leaking (inside the tank under the screen) is most likely broken. Apparently it's a common problem. I called HB at 1-800-851-8900 and talked to customer support. They are sending me a whole new tank (cannot just fix the gasket) for the whopping price of $5.00 to cover shipping. That's right, $5.00 for shipping gets you a whole new tank. I love Hamilton Beach. They truly do stand behind their products. Again Hamilton Beach product support, 1-800-851-8900 good luck to ya........Katherine

My hamilton beach brewstation is leaking.

There is a spring between the lever and the o-ring. It may have popped out when you cleaned the pot. That has happened to me before. The spring is necessary to hold the seal down until the lever is pushed.

I had the same problem with mine when it was brand new. I called Hamilton Beach and told them what the problem was and they sent me out the new parts to fix it. It was actually the rubber gasket that was causing mine to leak. Hope this helps.
