Question about Gateway Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Computer locked and I have never locked it.

My emachines T6528 tells me that my computer is locked and can only be opened by an administrator and needs a password. I don't know how this came about. It just started and I have had this computer for at least 2 years. If I select OK without putting in a password then I can go online but it keeps coming back.

Go to Control Panel -> Power Options. On one of the tabs presented in this dialog there is a setting to require a password on wakeup. Just clear that checkmark and apply the settings and you should be set. I run XP in a virtual machine, so this option does not appear for me otherwise I would tell you exactly what tab it is located on.

Emachine T6528 problem: My monitor wont boot up went i start the computer!

Easiest solution is to connect your monitor to another PC, if still nothing, then your monitor is toast.

If you are getting no display at all, and you tried a PCI video card and the onboard, most likely it is your monitor.

This is going to sound really dumb, but just incase, check to make sure both cables are snug in the monitor, I get calls daily at work with people telling me their monitor has died, only to find out that the power cord in the rear or the monitor is not completely snug.
