Question about Video Cameras

1 Answer

My Sony Handycam DCR-HC38 is reporting a C:32:11 error. It says to "Re-attach the power source," and the tape unit will not close. I suspect (after removing the battery and reinstalling it, resetting the camera, etc.) that the power connection to the tape unit has become loose or disconnected. Can you help? P.S. I'm a chemical engineer - dangerous!

I am sure you have the operating manual with you. Otherwise you can download it from this link:

One problem which appears to be most common is the connection to AC Mains, which as per the manual seems to be regular and the only soln. is to

  • "Disconnect the AC Adapter from the wall outlet remove the battery pack, then reconnect after about 1 min
  • Press the RESET button(p. 68) using a sharp pointed object. (If you press the RESET Button, all settings are reset"
The cassette has a gold plated connector & they say "to clean this gold-plated connector with a a cotton-wool swab every 10 times it has been ejected. If this gold plated connector is dirty or dusty, the remaining tape indicator may not show correctly. (as per p. 58 of the manual)
Let me assure you that there is no loss of connection to the tape unit, just cleaning the gold-plated connector frequently, as mentioned above, will solve this problem.
I would advice you to download the manual, if you don't have one & see the troubleshooting part(starts from p. 50) and go through it thoroughly.
If problem remains. please post it as a comment and I'll try my best to help you out.........sodeep

Sony handycam dcr-hc38 tape door wont close. fault code c:32:11

Try this if you are tech savy, if not you may want to take it to a person to have it fixed or send it off to sony.

1. unplug camcorder AC cord
2. remove fat battery from back of camcorder
3. remove slim battery from under the LCD (it's the size of a nickle coin)
4. wait 2 minutes
5. plug AC into the camcorder
6. flip the camcorder into VTR mode
7. tape should automatically eject

I have this same prob about dcr hc38 getting mssg c:32:11 does anyboby know what exactly does it mean thx

This error code is the system control microprocessor reporting that it has been unable to complete the cassette unloading process before timing out.
This condition can be caused by a mistimed mechanism due to mechanical shock or excessive force( eg. trying to force the cassette door open). It may also be caused by tight or faulty cassette tape loaded in mechanism.

My sony dcr-hc28 developed a problem where the tape will not reinsert and i get a message "re-attach power source". i re-attach, nothing changes. i remove battery, power source, re-attach, nothing...

apply a DC voltage of 5v to the tape motor at the bottom of the camcorder. you'll find two little semi-hemispheres on top of motor. trial and error to figure out which is positive.

My sony handycam dcr-hc26 door won't close. error C:32:11

Hi,
Remove battery/ power source from camcorder for minute, reattach battery/ power source and close the tape door.
If that does not solve problem then I'm afraid, tape mechanism got defective and will be replaced.
Let me know if you need tape mechanism part number info.
Thanks.
