We have an Electrolux ER 7656B fridge freezer which has been stored for a while - under covers - in our garage.
We cleaned it up and moved it back into the house on Sunday - ready for use - left it standing overnight to let gas settle - plugged it into mains this morning and switched it on.
The motor started running and the light in the fridge works ok as does the control panel light on the front.
After about 30 seconds; the motor stopped and has'nt worked since.
Any idea's please - like - is there a cut-out or internal fuse anywhere that I could check??
Be appreciated if any suggestions forthcoming - apart from the obvious that concerns the recycling centre.

there is a fan inside freezer behind back panel. if pipework behind panel is covered with ice, it will prevent air circulation and the fridge is affected first
take back panel off and check for ice build-up and that the fan is working

remove the fridge from caravan, now turn upside down and leave for as long as possible. what this does is get rid of any air locks in the gas. once left for a month or too turn back and leave for a day to setal and refit to caravan.this should solve your problem, it has been tried and tested on our caravan and worked. (This will not work on a domestic house fridge because they work on a different system)

yep sounds as though it is iceing up after it runs for a couple of days
you may have a defrost heater or defrost timer not working
the fact it didnot have water in the tray, you prob have a blocked drain as well

Hello,
On these units there is a defrost heater which comes on after about 12/14 hours running time depending on usage. It would cut in for about 15 mins just to get rid of ice accumulated around the Evaporator. This heater or the timer has failed and ice has got between the duct. supplying cold air to the fridge unit. The best thing to do is to defrost unit for 24 hours and then try it and see if you can feel cold air coming up into the fridge. The repair for this is not that successful and you would be better off defrosting unit like a normal fridge/freezer.
Hope this was a help.

Further to above - with help from [email protected] - we found out that there is a Defrost Cut-out
device at the rear of the unit - at the top.
Taking the round plastic cover off reveals a shaft with a screwdriver slot in it.
Turns shaft clockwise a couple of clicks - bings the motor back to life again.
The cut-out has operated a couple of times so this needs replacing.
By way of thanks to Phil for his help - I would add that this cut-out is available from his outlet - and I
will be ordering one shortly.
Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.
