After replacing the journal or receipt paper on the 5200 you must shut the top platen firmly and then press clear...sometimes it doesn't click all the way and you have to do it twice to get it to seat correctly. clear will then take away the message from the display

The letter H appears in the screen. The register will not respond. Any idea to what the Letter H means?

H means head up. It is telling you to click the paper holder back down after replacing the roll. You must always press clear and it should feed a small amount of paper when the new roll is inserted. this is built in to the program.
