Washer/Dryer The instruction manual for the Whirlpool washing machine, model AWG320/2, says quite clearly that the red pipe should be connected to the hot tap and the blue pipe to the cold tap, However, both pipes are connected to the hot tap and there does not seem to be any way of connecting the washing machine to the cold tap. How important is it for the washing machine to get access to cold water and what are the consequences of it not being able to do so?

i have experienced a machine doing this it was caused by the outlet hose pipe not alined it was syphoning water intermittently so check the hose outlet. 2nd
the wash heater may be open circuit causing the wash cycle to stop, the timer is then manually turned to continue washing .3rd check the pressure switch hose for blockage by taking it off the switch and blowing down to clear any blockage.

You need to replace the lid switch.

Check the vent pipe to be sure it is clear if it is a gas dryer you will have to check the ignitor.

Be sure to check and clear any connecting vent blockage too.

try taking the pipe off and try clearing the blockage by runing the hot tap down it quite fast.

remove the top panel by unscrewing the 3 screws at the back of the washer dryer . remove the top and then remove the back metal panel. the screws are down the side and all around the back of the panel. once you have removed the panel check for the black rubber hose that connects to the drum. remove the clip holding the rubber hose by prising it with a small screwdriver. be careful as the water will flow out quite quickly. Check the hose pipe for any blockages and clear as required.
