I think you must have pressed the EVF/LCD button which changes the review area to inside the tiny view finder.. the EVF/LCD button is found on the back of the camera at the top left hand corner.. it is a little silver button. Hope that helps.. :)

Have a d8o take a picture does not show on back screen

If you wish to manually view all the photos you've taken, press the play button, it is located near the screen on the back with a triangle logo.

If you wish to automatically view photos after they've been taken, press the menu button, go to the sub menu with the pencil icon, and turn "Image review" to on.

If you wish to view the images on the back screen as you take them, this is not possible with the D80. You have to use the viewfinder.

When reviewing pictures, by pushing the arrow, a screen comes up over the picture, detailing Camera, date, time, etc. How do I make it go away and STAY away? If I hit the Enter button, it will go away,...

You cannot make it STAY AWAY. THat buttn, the multi-selector switch, is useful. If while viewing your shots it is pressed to the right, then the shot info comes up. Push it once back to the left and that info goes away. If pushed left once again, you get a histogram of the phoro. Push it once to the right and that histogram will go away. without the histogram or information on the screen, you are in normal viewing mode and pressing that multi0selector switch up or down will cycle through your photos.

The view screen in the back oc camera has stopped working. It only works when reviewing photos taken. Can anything be done?

Think that you might have just accidentally pressed the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. You would then use the optical viewfinder in its place. To turn the screen back on, just press the DISP button one more time.

Lcd screen not showing any image

Can you use the LCD screen to review photos by pressing the play button on the left?

If you can then getting the image to be viewed after it is takencan be fixed by a simple setting.

I have an XTi so yours should be almost identical:

Press the "Menu" button.
Press the button on the right side of the circle to move to the playback menu (looks like a play button)
Press down to "review time"
Press the "set" button (in the center of the circle)
choose an amount of time or hold (too keep it on the screen until you take the next picture) if you wish.
Press the "set" button
Press the "menu" button to exit the menu and that should fixya.

How to view

There are two ways to view the photos, in the camera...

1) if the camera is OFF and the lens barrier is closed, just press the Play (>) button once to view the photos.
2) If the camera is in SHOOTING mode with the lens barrier open, press the Quick View button twice in rapid succession.

When you are done reviewing the pictures, press the Quick View button once to turn the monitor off, OR, to return to the shooting mode, press the shutter button halfway.

Then use the arrow pads to go forward and backward.

Hope this helps.
