Silver button to take picture popped off

I was taking a picture and the silver button to take the picture popped off. My camera has never fallen, have taken very good care of it. Called Sony and missed the warranty by 2 months. I can't find a repair center to fix it and Sony wants to charge me 181.00 to get it fixed. What can I do? Same as the others. We take good care of our camera and the button popped off. I'm curious if mad_daddy or anyone else has been able to fix this themselves. My duct-tape based repair has been working for awhile, but the wife doesn't like the new look.

If you do a search for "sony h2 shutter button replacement" on Google.com you will find a shop that sells both the shutter button and a repair service to install the shutter as well.

Hope this helps!

When I try to take a picture the camera tries 2 or 3 times then I get a err05. (built in flash auto pop-up was iobtructed.) But I can't find anything obstructing it

Alot of times there is residue that has got stuck in between the flash cover and top cover. Turn the camera on and with your nail pry open the flash as you push the flash pop up button with your other hand! Then with alcohol and a couple of q-tips clean every part under the flash pop up. When the camera is facing you there is a arm that rests slightly forward on the left side clean there and on the right side in the back there is a piece of plastic sticking out of the cover. Its black in color clean that with alcohol depress it a few times with the q-tip soaked in alcohol and the arms that push up the flash are silver, clean those real good. Alot of times when a camera is sent in for this it is usually a result of residue of some sort getting in between the flash pop up and the top cover! Even if it looks clean, clean it anyways. Also sometimes the flash pop up is slightly bent you can bend it in place with your hand. Just a little a a time and then try to depress the flash pop up button and see if it works.

Broken Flash on Nikon D40

If your under warrenty it can be repaired for free. If not, it still can be repaired. Go to Nikon's webpage, they will send and give you your steps to sending your camera. Once your done, make sure to get insurance on your cam and tracking number so you can follow it to its destination. You should get it back in a few weeks depending on how held back they are. Best luck.

Why won't the flash on my e500 pop up when the correct button is pressed or when I try to take a picture that requires a flash?

When you take pictures in AUTO, Portrait, Macro or Night scene mode, the built-in flash will automatically pop up in low-light or backlit conditions. If you want to control the flash pop-up, set this function to OFF.
1 Menu [AUTO POP UP]
2 Use control dial to select [ON] or [OFF].
3 Press the Ok
button.

If you are in any other mode the flash will not auto pop up.

Silver button to take picture popped off

Hey lindamontero,
You can order the button from Sony at 1-800-222-7669, but unless you have camera repair expertise I would not try repairing it yourself. I would suggest you shop around for a repair center with a lower repair cost. There are many online that you can mail you camera into, or you could go to your local Best Buy™ store and the Geek Squad® precinct in the store can send it out for service.

Sincerely,
Allan

A part has fallen out.

The component that fell out is called a tape guide. The guide assembly fits into the guide rail on the supply side (left side) of the drum. You will notice another guide to the right, this is the take up guide assy, it sits in the guide rail assembly as well. There will be a silver shaft sticking up from the guide rail where the tape guide should be seated, with gentle pressure, the guide should snap back on and the unit should operate correctly. Please do not touch the drum surface as this may damage the video head assembly. Hope this helps you, good luck. Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
