How can I find the part number for an HP laptop motherboard without opening the computer itself? the motherboard needs to be replaced and we need to order the part online.

You can not know the motherboard serial number it-self without opening the computer... But you have your product ID and computer serial number on the back of the laptop. That should give you, at the HP Support web-page, the drivers list for your specific built. Knowing the driver, you can know what chip-set it's holding, and so, the motherboard also.

Some motherboards allow you to roll back to the previous BIOS configuration. You may be able to do this before the computer hangs.
If not you will need a new motherboard.

Components guide

Here you want to specify that like which type of component guide you need.I will guide you a few component.
First, you want to know the motherboard(the computer's main power adopter to different components). The motherboard is sharing the power to the different components like RAM,HDD,DVD R-W etc, which is coming from the power supply. It works like that.
Second, you want to know the PROCESSOR which is the heart of motherboard or computer. It deals with the part of the computer to do various processes on computer as user gives.
Third, you want to know the HDD which is the brain where you can save your personel documents, games, etc.
I hope you are sattisfied by my answer.

Freezes up when I attach ipod via usb. will not install software- freezes up when cd inserted - must power down via power button.

See if the machine freezes up on any other usb device you try to hookup to the motherboard.

If it does then you know its a problem with the motherboard. If it doesn't then you know its an issue with the ipod. Try hooking up your ipod to another computer and if it still freezes up the other computer then you know your ipod is the issue, if it doesn't then you know it has to be an incompatibility issue with the motherboard and the ipod. You could try updating the BIOS on that motherboard and see if that resolves the issue.

I want motherboard drivers.

We would need to know what kind of computer it is.

Please let us know the model of your machine, and if it is a desktop or a laptop.

Also, you may check the manufactures website for your computer, which often has the drivers required.
