Try a right click to see the "properties" of the file. It may not be a readable document.

Creating a new profile in Outlook

5eb489d.jpg

  • Starting from the picture above, choose Properties, Show Profiles, Add…
  • Create the profile name, then click Next, the only choice will be Microsoft Exchange server, then the Next button will be available.
  • For Server name type in the appropriate mail server (NYMAIL for NY, etc.) and the Last Name of the user, then click on Check Name to resolve name with Global Address list then click Next and Finish.
  • With the new profile highlighted, click Properties, Email Accounts…, then click below Directory on View or change existing … and Next.
  • You should see Outlook Address Book, click on Change and click on File As (Smith, John) in the Show Names by box and then click on Close and then Finish and then Close again.
  • (Note: If you do not see Outlook Address Book, click on Add…, then click on Additional Address Books, confirm Outlook Address Book is selected and click Next. You should see Outlook Address Book, click on Change and click on File As (Smith, John) in the Show Names by box and then click on Close and then Finish and then Close again.)
  • Switch to the newly created profile under Always use this profile and then click OK.
  • Log user into Outlook using the new profile, you should see the creation of a new local outlook.ost file and it will have the message in the lower left corner Updating folders.
  • Close Outlook.
The next step is to locate the user’s old auto name completion file (*.NK2) and re-name it using the new profile name, the file will be in the following location:
C:\Documents and Settings\userid\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
Copy the old *.NK2 file to C:\Temp then rename it to the new profile name.NK2 then copy the file back to the original location and overwrite the existing file (if you don’t get a prompt to overwrite, you have the wrong profile name).
Restart Outlook and confirm the user can see their Contacts when addressing a new email as well as the Client Matter Email Addresses in the Public Folder:

fccd36b.jpg
If they are not present, go to the Folder List view in Outlook, right click on the Contacts folder, go to Properties, then to the Outlook Address Book tab and check the box as seen below:
0613f73.jpg

For blackberry users only
If the user has a blackberry, the new profile must be also configured in the Desktop Manager.
Open the users Desktop Manager, open the Redirector Settings, click on the Advanced tab, then in the Account Settings section, click on Profile Settings and change to the newly created profile and click OK. It will give you the prompt that the Desktop Manager will need to be re-started in order for the new settings to take effect, click OK and OK again and then close and restart the Desktop Manager. The users unit must be plugged in for it to re-synch and then you are completed

I want to creat new skype id

I got your answer from: https://support.skype.com/en-us/faq/FA829/How-can-I-run-two-Skype-accounts-on-the-same-computer

In order to use more than one Skype account on the same computer at the same time you need to start a new instance of Skype:
  1. From the Windows taskbar, click Start > Run (or press the Windows and R keys on your keyboard at the same time)
  2. In the Run window, enter the following command (include the quotes) and press OK:
"C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /secondary

If you get any error messages, please copy and paste the exact command from this email and try again.

Please keep in mind that if you have changed the installation path for Skype then you need to enter the correct path for the Skype.exe file.

If this solution fails, you can try another option:
  1. Find the Skype executable file (Skype.exe) in: C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\
  2. Right click on it and choose: Send to > Desktop (create shortcut)
  3. Locate the shortcut on the desktop, then right-click on it and choose Properties
  4. In the Target field, add: /secondary. The Target field should now be: "C:\Program Files\Skype\Phone\Skype.exe" /secondary
  5. Click OK. You can now start a new instance of Skype every time you double-click on the new shortcut.
For Skype 3.8 and earlier Requirements: Windows XP, Two Skype User accounts

First, create a new Windows user by going to the Control Panel and clicking on User Accounts. Choose Create a new account and follow the steps to set permissions. We also suggest setting a password for the new user by clicking on the newly created user and choosing the Set Password option. The new user will also require admin rights on your PC.

Next, create a shortcut to Skype or make a copy of the shortcut that is already in the Start menu. Right-click this new shortcut and choose Properties. On the bottom of the first page there is a button labelled Advanced... . Click this button and select Run with different credentials. Select OK, and then select OK again to close the Properties dialog.

You're all set. Whenever you use this new shortcut it will ask for a Windows username and password. Enter the Skype Name and password of the user you created earlier by choosing The following user: option. Click OK and you'll have a second instance of Skype. It will require that you sign in with your Skype Name and password the first time.

To help automate the Run as trick you can create a second desktop icon for Skype and modify its properties. Click the Advanced button and check the box Run with different credentials. After clicking on the modified icon it will ask you to sign in as another user. Changing the icon graphic also helps ensure you click on the correct icon.

If you have multiple USB headsets or USB Phones you should be able to set up both instances of Skype to use a different sound device.

I'm new at this..I'm trying to update my printer drivers and was told to make a temporary directory on my hard disk drive to save the downloaded file, e.g. C:\bront...How?

It means to create a folder to download the file into:

Create A New Folder

Folders are the basic organizational building blocks of any computer system. Without folders it would be virtually impossible to keep track of all the files that are found on even the smallest system. New folders can be created just about anywhere, but three methods are shown below.

New Folder On Desktop - Right click anywhere on an open area of the desktop. Select New and then click Folder. A new folder with the default name New Folder will be created on the desktop. Either accept the default name New Folder (bad idea) by hitting the enter key or type a new name for the folder (good idea) and then hit enter on the keyboard. To rename the foler, right click on it and select rename. Then type the new name.

New Folder Using Windows Explorer in Task View

Once again, make sure you're in the location where the new folder is to be created. In this case I'm using the same location that was used in the previous example; the root of the C drive as shown in the Address bar. In the File and Folder Tasks section, click the Make a New Folder selection. The New Folder is created in the right hand pane as shown in the second screen capture. Note that the File and Folder Tasks section also expands to include new entries relative to what can be done with the folder just created.

Thanks, Joe

Desktop files are not opening

It basically means that the original location for that shortcut has been moved, I recommend deleting that shortcut going to the original file and right clicking, select create new shortcut > desktop.
