Question about Canon PIXMA iP3000 InkJet Photo Printer

Will not print blue

My 6Y yellow tank has ink in it, but it appears to be printing light pink? I tried nozzle adjustment and print head adjustment and they appear fine except for the color. What is the issue? My Canon Pixma IP3000 will not print any shades of blue(or green). However when I run the alignment and nozzle checks blue prints perfectly. I have updated to the latest driver, run a deep clean of the nozzles but it makes no difference. The printer can print blue perfectly, but not when you tell it to.

Thanks so much for taking the time to help. As I mentioned in my post I had cleaned, even deep cleaned the heads, and aligned them before making my post. In the end I diagnosed the problem to colour management profiles in the printer properties. Had exactly the same problem on 2 different PCs so not an individual software/driver error. Changed colour management profiles from automatic to manual, then changed it back, all colour printing problems sorted. This method worked on 2 different PCs (different models).

Hello Sophia, Did you try a different ink cartridge ? If you did than it sounds like a print head or nozzle problem.

Yellow ink will not print

You may have blocked yellow print head nozzles.

Try the printer maintenance to clear the printer nozzles.
After several deep cleaning attempts and there is no improvements in the printthen a new print head is required.
A new print head maybe expensive and it maybe more cost effective to purchase anew printer.
The Print head will contain all the nozzels for all the different colors so you cannot just replace a single color print head nozzels.

The auto print head alignment prints ok. The Nozzle check from top to bottom prints as follows: 3eBK ok; 6C top half light blue - bottom half darker blue; 6C ok; 6M top half light pink - bottom half darker...

It sounds like your black (K) or Black/Yellow (KY) head needs to be replaced.
The problem appears to be in the top half of the black head.
Without knowing more (like what make/model the printer is) I can't help more than that.

Remove ink cartridges one by one and put it back in. If same thing happens, try to do head cleaning and nozzle checks consecutively from the computer.

Start -> Control Panel -> Printers & Faxes (Windows XP) / Printers (Windows Vista) -> Printer Icon (right click) -> Printing Preferences -> Maintenance

You should be able to see nozzle check, click it and follow the prompt. Line patterns that corresponds to the colors of the ink cartridges would be printed. If breaks on the patterns appear, continue with head cleaning. Try to do this about 3 times until all patterns are complete.

New printhead will only print 3eBK, no color

If you're concerned with a clogged printhead try to clean it with acetone solution. Also, check the cable connections to your printerheads they might be loosened..
