Question about Acer AL2216WBD LCD Monitor

Acer x223w - no option to goto 1680x1050

I've just come back from holiday and my Acer x223w monitor won't display in 1680x1050.

I'm running XP from a Fujitsu Siemens LifeBook S. Using "Display" from Control Panel, and the "Settings Tab" the closest I get is 1600x1200.

How can I fix this?

    S7210 is the model.

The graphics software is the standard driver that comes with the laptop: Intel Graphics Media Adaptor for mobile

Yes, it was working before the holiday.

    Thanks Chris.

I downloaded the most recent drivers and installed them. This has given me much more finegrained control over the display settings including the option to go for the 1680 x 1050 resolution.

However, when I set this as my resolution for my Acer monitor it displays at a lower, clunky resolution.

I'm not sure what to do next.

If you have any other ideas, I'd be grateful of pointers. All the best.

LifeBook S is a series. What is the model number of your notebook (it should be on a decal on your puter's underside)?

Do you have third-party graphics software? (i.e. NVidia, ATI)

It seems this is a new problem; this was working okay before your holiday?

It would seem, somehow, your graphics driver was corrupted. The only thing to do is re-install graphics drivers. These can be found with a quick Google Search: CLICK ME

The first link, to DriversCollection.com, looks promising. This one is for Windows Vista or XP, but you need to specify on the tabs near the top of the page. Make sure you download the correct driver, as this page includes other drivers. You're looking for "Graphics Driver" [Vista] or "Video Driver" [XP].

Hope this works for you.

How do I set the resolution, screen posts a box saying for best results use 1680 x 1050@60HZ, how can I set this?

Hello,
In XP goto the control panel and click display. Select the Settings tab and move the screen resolution bar to the right until it says 1680x1050.
Vista should be similar to the XP instructions.
In windows 7 goto the control panel and click display. Select Adjust Resolution from the menu to the left. Now adjust the display setting to 1680x1050.

I have a dual monitor system, both are the x223w. Same problem but only on the second monitor. Backlight shuts off.On/off light stays blue. I have to turn off the monitor and turn it back on. I returned it and Acer could not find any problem so I got it back. No problem for awhile and now a few times over the past couple days. Not good...

Refresh rate problem

It depends on your monitor. Some monitors don't support higher frequencies at higher resolutions. I wouldn't try to force it very much, as your monitor has built-in protection designed to stop it from operating at a higher frequency than it's capable. If you did find a way to work around that, you're likely to blow the monitor.

Hi There! My Acer x223w monitor is floating a "Input Not Supported" box that will not go away any suggestions?

The documentation for this monitor should list its supported resolutions, and you will need to attach another monitor that supports a greater (possibly lower or higher) range of resolutions and then set it to one of the supported resolutions for the monitor. The native resolution appears to be 1680x1050, although I cannot find online documentation directly from Acer.
