Question about Hitachi Computers & Internet

Open Question

Hitachi 65 SWX20B

I have a Sony BDP-S550 Blu Ray DVD player with a HDMI cable out connected to the TV by way of a HDMI/DVI connector. At times, I will loose the picture on the TV. Giving a very slight brief wiggle to the connector restores the picture immediately. You thoughts on how to fix this problem would be very much appreciated.

SOURCE: BenQ FP241W 24" inch problem with HDMI connection

Sounds like the HDMI port on the monitor has been shorted out.
There are very small fuses on the video board that can be changed, but they are fiddly and you may end up doing more harm then good if you are not sure what your doing.
The fuses are actually soldered to the board...it's not a case of pop one out and pop one in like the glass type.

Hope it helps =)

SOURCE: Connecting Sony BDP S550 Blu-ray player to my Denon 3802 receiver.

The only thing you need is an optical audio cable (toslink) connecting the Blu-ray blayer with one of the three inputs on the AVR3802. Then assign this input in the system menu to the input you like (e. g. DVD) and that should be it. The Receiver automatically detects the sound format from the Blu-ray and changes from stereo to DTS, DD5.1, 7.1 or whatever.

Thomas

SOURCE: Blue-ray Player HDMI jack to existing TV DVI-HDTV connector

Unless your TV is HDCP compliant (sorry, don't have to research this for you), you may not be able to watch Blu-Ray movies from your Blue-Ray player in 1080p. So first find out if your TV can do HDCP via the DVI port (i doubt it). If it can, you can get an HDMI-to-DVI adapter (you can find them real cheap off Amazon.com)

The manual eject button for the Sony BDP-S550 is located on the top right edge on the front of the of the player.

The manual for the Blu-ray player is located here...
http://www.docs.sony.com/release/BDPS550_US.pdf

Also, located below is a picture of the Sony BDP-S550. If you look on along the edge of the top right on the front of the player, you will see a button with the eject logo on it.

You may have a defective HDMI cable. If you have a friend with a working cable you could test yours on their system.

I am trying to hook up a Sony BDP-S360 via HDMI

I don't know what kind of TV you have, but on some TVs the HDMI inputs have to be enabled via the TV setup menu. Try looking at the setup status.

Yes, you can connect the HDMI Cable from the Blu-ray Player to the TV directly and then, connect the Digital Optical cable from the Blu-ray Player to the Receiver.

to give the best resolution (1080p) possible that the TV set is able
to support. Hope this helps.
