Question about Insignia Digital-to-Analog Converter for Analog TVs

No volume Our converter box has been working fine for 5 months. Now when the TV is first turned on, the letters "SAP" appear on the screen, and there is no volume.

Make sure the volume is up on the box this volume should be different from the actual tv volume and afterward make sure the tv volume is up too also go into the converter box itself and make sure it is not set to convert to any other language. it seems that maybe it might be trying to convert to spanish and not english which could cause no sound to be output at all seeing as how most channels are output in english audio.

Brand new, connected to new cox cable box, video works great but no sound


if just running HDMI cable try adding audio cables too, check all your volume and mute settings in the system setup.
If you have audio on most channels, but have silence on some or all of your local network channels, you may have the Secondary Audio Programming (SAP) turned ON. Complete the following steps to turn off SAP.
  1. Press the Settings or MENU button on the digital remote.

    Result: The Settings screen displays.
  2. Choose from the following options.
If... Then... Disable SAPdisplays Press the Select button. Choose SAP Languagedisplays Use the left or right arrow buttons to choose the English setting and press Select. PREFERENCESdisplays Scroll to the Language option, select Audio, then select the option labeled Primary or the one labeled English. 1) tight the springs contacts batteries with pliers, for better contacts.
2) clean the contacts batteries.
3) open the remote control and clean the Keypads from oxide, dust, and special spray contacts or alcohol.
4) Reset the code again, and try it. if the problem persist, go to the repair shop TV for fix it.

I have a Quasar TV that has worked perfectly fine until the other day. Picture is fine, but no sound. The speaker volume is on.


Check all your channels. If you are getting sound on some channels but not others it is a good possibility that your SAP setting is turned on. Simply go into your audio menu and disable the SAP. Not sure about your model tv but some Tv sets had a switch on the back to disable the speakers and some have a setting in the menu to disable the speakers. If you have a digital cable box hooked to the tv it is possible the cable box volume is turned all the way down which will override your tv volume. Check these options and hopefully one of them works for you.

My wife was hitting buttons on our satellite remote and the audio no longer works. She thinks the tv is the problem. I have tried all of the Satellite volume menus and am unable to get the sound back on.


TV: check for SAP or MTS features, set them to STEREO. Also, verify that the TV Speakers are set to ON.

Cable Box: If the box has volume controls, make the volume is turned up. Also, check for the SAP or MTS feature. Again, set this to STEREO.

No sound on some channels, other channels fine


Your SAP/MTS function is most likely turned on. This feature has 3 modes: Stereo, Mono and SAP. Stereo and Mono are easy to understand, it's the SAP that can get you. SAP stands for Second Audio Production. It is used to provide weather, information or an additional language translation of a program. Some broadcasters simply transmit the mono audio over the SAP audio channel when the are not using it for other purposes. Other broadcasters simply do not use it, which does not give you any audio. Look on your remote for a SAP or MTS button. If you do not see one, look in your TV user menu for this feature. If you are using a cable box, look in the audio menu of the cable box. You are looking for something set to SAP... just change it to STEREO. I hope this was helpful.

you might try checking the sap (secondary audio programming) option in your tv if it has one make sure it is turned off. if it is off or does not have that option you will most likely have to take it to a repair shop. i would not try to fix it my self as you will do more harm than good.

Problem programming Zenith Digital TV Converter DTT901 remote.


Be sure that your TV is set to channel 3 or 4 if you are using the RF cable or Video 1, etc if using the Audio/Video cable.  The Installation  Guide should appear.  The "improved" picture that you are seeing is simply the analog throughput, not the digital conversion.

OK guys I'll save you. The tv is in hotel mode. To get it out from there you have to go in service menu but DO NOT CHANGE ANY OTHER THING IN THERE, only what i tell you. With the tv on and the K letter on the screen press in the same time vol- and ch- on the tv set. Now you'll be in service mode. On the remote press down arrow (not -channel) and you'll see up industry init. go there with ch- and press vol+ and enter. let the tv like that for few seconds and the tv will go green and hopefully industry init succsesfull will be on the screen. After that unplug the tv and replug it. Done!
