Open up a command prompt and type 'ping www.symantec.com' (without the quotes). What does it respond with? If it does not give you a set of 4 responses of transit times, update us here. Also include what operating system you are using as troubleshooting procedures will be slightly different depending on if you are running XP or Vista.

Connection to itunes

Hi Yvonne

Several things you can try...

To check for updates, tap Settings > General > Software Update. You can also connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to iTunes and click Check for Update on your device's Summary page. To check that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station.

  1. That your date, time, and time zone are correct. Tap Settings > General > Date & Time. Time Zone might list another city in your time zone.
  2. That your iOS software is up to date. To check for updates, tap Settings > General > Software Update. You can also connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to iTunes and click Check for Updateon your device's Summary page.
  3. To check that you're in range of a Wi-Fi router or base station. If you're using cellular service, make sure that cellular data is turned on from Settings > Cellular. If you're connected to cellular data, larger items might not download. You might need to connect to Wi-Fi to download apps, videos, and podcasts.
  4. That you have an active Internet connection. For help with your connection, check your device's user guide.
  5. To see if other devices, like portable computers, can connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the Internet.
  6. To reset your Wi-Fi router by turning it off and then on again.

Safari can not open the page because the address is invalid

This problem is either the unit is losing connectivity to the internet or the web address is being typed wrong. Losing connectivity could be caused by a number of issues, including viruses (yes, an Ipod CAN get a virus as can anything that connects to the internet).

If you are sure your internet connection is good becuase you can go to other websites, try plugging the Ipod into a computer with ITunes and doing a system update. That should resolve any issues.

When i try to access the apps store on my itunes on my computer, it says check my network settings????????? i also tried to download apps on from my itunes, but it wont let me 'AUTHORIZE MY...

This may have something to do with your Internet connection go to IE explorer then when you see diagnose connection do this if that is the case. It should repair the issue or give you an idea as to what is wrong with you Network Connection. If you can access other web sites just not I Tunes it could be that their server is down temporarily this does happen sometimes. If you are on a modem or router you may wish to reset the modem and router to fix the Internet Access issues.

It appears from your question that it has nothing to do with what you are doing just a bad connection back and forth to I Tunes I would try the reset on the modem or router or restart your computer as well. Thanks for using FixYa! John

Disable your internet security while trying to connect. Enable it after you have finished doing whatever you needed to do with itunes. You may also be able to include itunes and the itunes store in the websites acceptable to your internet security software.

On my windows xp it says my internet is working but when i try and open a internet page it says it cannot load, please help

FIRST POSSIBLE SOLUTION: Determine which version of IE you have installed. To do so, click "Help" on the IE toolbar and then click "About Internet Explorer." The version will appear in a dialog box. Go to the Microsoft website and upgrade to IE version 7 if you are using an earlier version. By upgrading, you may be able to resolve your IE problems. Repair damaged files automatically using IE 7's "Reset" feature. Go to the "Tools" menu and click "Internet Options." Click on the "Advanced" tab. Click the "Reset" button. Close all other programs if asked, and then click "Reset" to confirm that you want to reset IE and repair the files. Use XP's System File Checker to resolve IE problems. Click "Start" and then "Run." In the "Open" box, type "sfc /scannow" and click "Go." The System File Checker will scan your computer, finding and repairing damaged or missing files. Restart your computer after the process is finished. Update Windows XP to make sure you have the most recent service pack installed. Go to the Microsoft Windows, check for any available updates and install them. SECOND POSSIBLE SOLUTION: Make sure your computer is not too far away from your wireless router and you have a good signal. By placing your mouse pointer over the wireless connection icon, located in the bottom right corner of your taskbar, you can check to see if your signal strength is good. Anything less than a good signal can cause intermittent connections. SOLUTION: You will need to relocate your wireless router closer to your computer. If you have a 2.4 GHz wireless home phone, take notice if you lose the internet connection when placing or receiving a call. These wireless phones interfere with wireless routers because they both operate on 2.4GHz frequencies. If this happens you need to power down the router and then turn it back on. This will happen occasionally but not all of the time. SOLUTION: (1) upgrade your wireless phone to 5.8GHz, (2) use a corded phone or (3) use a wired internet connection to your router. If steps 1 and 2 did not solve your internet connection, borrow a friend?s laptop with a wireless card and see if their laptop can connect to the internet. Be sure to set your friends wireless connection settings to the same settings that your wireless card is set to. If your friend?s laptop connects to the internet then you may have a bad wireless card. Try reconfiguring your wireless card settings before going out to purchase an external wireless card. If your friend?s laptop can?t connect to the internet, try resetting the router to the factory defaults. Change the settings on the wireless card to the same settings as the factory default on the wireless router. If this works you are back in business. If it does not work for either computer, the wireless portion of your router is bad. SOLUTION: Purchase a new router or use a wired connection to one of your router ports.

My Computer and iTunes does not recognize my iPod Touch

Try resetting it while it is connected. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If you have not already tried, I would also try the other ports on the computer.

Are you running iTunes 8?

And what kind of computer do you have?

Itunes store says i'm not connected

un install all your firewalls completely for the time being ( you only need one so I dont see why you have norton installed - personally I would just get rid of norton as norton anything is rubbish !! )

Disable windows firewall as well and un install itunes and download the latest version and then re install using the latest version and try again.

Also if you have a router try and port forward ports 80 and 443.

If you post back with your make and model of router I can help you as best as possible to do this.

My itunes doesnt work

try connecting to another computer that has itunes. this sounds like it wont solve anything but for some reason i get errors sometimes and as soon as i connect to another computer and then connect to the original i dont get errors from the original computer i was trying to use.

if that doesnt work, hold the power and home button untill your ipod shuts off then turn it back on. this sometimes helps as a sort of reset for your ipod without losing any of your music or etc.
hope this helped!
