Question about Nordic Track NordicTrack Treadmill, A2550

1 Answer

Treadmill will not start, continues counting the time but not rotating the motor. Have the same problem. Motor control was replaced to no avail. Motor was replaced still no dice. Had the old motor tested and it works fine, it was suggested that it could be connection between the dc motor to the ac power. How do I repair this.

To begin the best serious that needed a technical expertise in this, but I tell you what can be happening: first that the card than to motor controller must have some Diode rectifier damaged, Second review the cables connecting the engine with the card, if you say that recently you changed the engine they should left the connection correctly and finally check the belt of engine which do not this loose, and I hope you serve this comment

The Treadmill will power up and get up to selected speed, but after a time, the motor just stops dead. I have to wait a while before I can start it again. Seems like the motor is overheating. When I touch it in that stopped condition, it is very hot. Does it need a new motor? Anything I can do to remedy the situation besides buy a new motor?

Better know someone who can fix it, like who you got the Treadmill from. Maybe they can help you, it's better if you had the warranty. Or you can trade yours in for another one. That always helps.

I have a roger black treadmill the belt stops working after 5 - 6 minutes, the display still continues counting as normal, I have to wait for acouple of hours to start it again to last for 5 mins. please...

1) this a problem by lack of LUBE maintenance, you must LUBE about 5 hours continuosly of use. Otherwise you may have a worn DECK BELT, and time to replace. By that reason the treadmill shut down, to due the software has protection itself for electronic system
2) LUBE the rollers bearing.
3) test the bearing from the main motor, and replace too.
God bless you

Carol lewis mot566 error code 03

1)probably a faulty speed sensor
2) speed sensor is not plugged in properly.
3)possibly a faulty motor
4) Main control board or lower board.
The error codes will differ between makes and models but could be e1.
Check this video for speed sensor.

adjust the speed sensor:Move the motor to slacken the pulley, then lift the motor to get underneath. That is where the treadmills speed sensor will be located. It is usually a square or rectangular shaped green module with connectors at both ends.

Finally after you did the adjustment you can conclude:
A) Faulty Speed sensor B) Main Motor faulty C) Main Motor Controller faulty.

attached block diagram for treadmill that I did for any treadmills, see how the Main Motor Board has function for 90% of the treadmills.

Everything works. but the treadmill motor won't start when I press the on button.

If you press start and the belt will not turn, but your incline is working, the time is counting and the speed #'s change. The problem would most likely be the lower control board. It could also be your motor. Have a professional test the motor with a DC voltage source. If it tests OK the problem is almost certainly the control board. Depending on the brand, some control boards have a fuse. Have the fuse checked and if it is bad replace it and try starting the treadmill again before you buy a new control board.

L5 is really LS (Lose signal ) this occurs when the speed sensor is not functioning or no belt movement. Unplug unit remove motor shroud then plug unit back in, now stand on foot panels you will notice LED lights coming from the Motor Control Board, press start at this time you will manually with you foot start pushing the belt. What this will show you that if the speed sensor is working properly one of the lights will start flickering and the upper panel will register this pulse signal and the time should work.
If you get a LS again then the speed sensor is defective and needs to be replaced, this sensor is located on top of the drive motor with 2 bolts attaching it to the motor body. Now if the sensor is functioning their is 2 other possibilities 1) Worn motor brushes 2) Motor Control Board Has Failed.Unplug Unit.
The easiest to test out of the 2 is the motor, by using a 18v fully charged drill battery disconnect the lead from the motor going to the motor control board attach the leads to the battery and the motor should start to rotate if not replace worn brushes. If the motor rotates then you may have a defective motor control board.
To test this portion you will need a multi-meter place leads where you disconnected the motor leads put meter range @ 20v DC plug in unit and start the unit, when you hear the click you should see about 5v DC = .5 MPH and their should be another LED light flickering as soon as you hit the start key this is the PWM signal which is generated from the upper board and travels thru the terminal harness. This tells you that both board and harness is working properly.
My suggestion is that it is either the sensor or the brushes these are the 2 that commonly fail.

3 days old and when I push any of the buttons that are supposed to cause belt to start moving or to change incline there in no response, though the electronic display starts counting the seconds as if it...

The single most cause of no motor output is failure of the DC motor control Look for any test lights on the power boards beneath the motor shroud use caution when removing the motor hood because you may still have electricity in the motor area even if the treadmill is unplugged.
One of the lights should be labeled PWM when hitting the start button that will start flickering , because the upper console is sending a signal to the lower board telling it to start the motor. if that process happens then you need to check the motor
Cordless drill battery- get a fully-charged, 18 volt (preferred) cordless drill battery and on most treadmills connect the red and black motor leads to the battery (some have different colors but if you have two wires and get it hooked up backwards, the motor will just run backwards and won’t be harmed). If good, the motor should operate at about 1 MPH.
Car battery- these are 12VDC high amp batteries so the motor will turn slowly but you can walk on the belt. Always be careful with battery acid on these things so we don’t recommend bringing them in the house…take the treadmill to the battery. If does move then the controller board needs to be replace.

Treadmill only works for 15 secs

1) If the the belt is moving during that time then stop I would suspect that speed sensor maybe defective. Replace the sensor
2) Now if their is no belt movement then either Motor Control board or Drive Motor is defective. Do Motor Test
I would check the drive motor first to eliminate an expensive component, unplug unit then remove motor shroud then unplug the connectors leading to the motor itself. If you have wire leads and a 18v drill battery2_bing.gif connect the leads into motor then attach the other end to you battery and if the motor will rotate ( approx. 1mph) if that is accomplished then the only other component to be replaced would be the Motor Control Board. The treadmill starts then after a few seconds it stops and a code L5 or LS comes up. the model is a york fitness z16

More likely LS= Loss Signal open the motor shroud on the motor their should be a cylindrical shape sensor (magnetic). Plug in treadmill and on the motor control board their should be a L E D (red or amber) by manually rotating the motor you should see that light flicker if it does sensor is good if not replace sensor. Next thing if sensor is good check motor brushes to see if they are mis-align or worn if worn less than 3/8" in length replace them
