Question about Acer Aspire 5600 Series 5630-6951 Laptop
Hello I have an Acer Aspire, i'm not at home but i believe it is a model #5920-6914. It has worked perfect for the past 6 monthes i've owned it. One day after not turning it on for about 3 weeks it simply would not start. No lights, no fan, nothing. I tried running it off of a live outlet thinking maybe the battery was just dead but still nothing. The charge light does not come on but the light on the actual charger does. So it seems as if there is just no power getting to the laptop, could this be the computer's motherboard? The charger consists of two separate components, the part with the cord that goes into the wall and the rectangular black box with the green light (the green light comes on) and then the cord that plugs into the recangular box and goes into the computer. Could the problem be with this second cord running from the box to computer? Please help!!! I took mine to get it repaired and it is the motherboard anyone know where to get another one?
There is one common flaw with most all laptops. The socket plug for the power cord is connected to the motherboard. When you plug the power cord into this socket it applies pressure or weight on the socket inside the computer. It sounds as if your charge cord is working. Moving the computer around while it is plugged in can cause even more stress on the plug socket.
Try this...but be careful...using a small item such as a toothpick or other non-metalic item...push up and down on the plug socket. If it moves around this is not normal and probably the cause of your problem.
I fixed my laptop by soldering the contacts of the socket back down to the board. I don't suggest doing this yourself unless you know how to take a laptop apart. Check with your local computer repair shop and have them give you an estimate to either fix by reconnecting or replacing the motherboard. Hope this helps. Thanks!
