Paper Size Sensor Error on HP Photosmart 3110

My HP Photosmart D7160 is having a problem printing. When I try to print on my printers screen it says: "Ink system has failed. Unable to print. Refer to printer documentation. Error: 0xc19a0024 Turn power off, then on again." But when I turn it off and back on again it gives me the same message. Please help This is a very badly designed and constructed printer. 2 weeks ago, my photosmart 3110 failed to print magenta and blue. So, i decided to clean the printhead but it didn't help. Opened up the printer assembly and found that the cheap plastic rocker arm on the printer which opens the valves is broken. Wat Tha F***?? I've use this printer for occassional photo printing and it breaks down so soon? The nightmare begins when I was told by hp that this piece of plastic **** part is not sold as spare part replacement. So, i decided to machine myself this part using a piece of aluminium. Surely it works and the rocker arm problem is fixed. Another problem has emerged, due to the broken rocker arm the ink has spilled all over inside the printer and has somehow covered the "Automatic Papser Size Sensor" which i had problem locating it. Anyone knows where it is located? Please help me out on locating the sensor. I'd be glad to teach you and give you some pictures, instructions and dimension on how to machine the rocker arm from aluminium. Just reply to this forum. Thanks.

I have a HP Photosmart D7160 and it won't print 4 X 6. It has black marks on the wrong side when it comes out, but not picture

Try flipping the paper. Probably you need to resize the image for this size, sounds like it is compressed and squnched together into those black marks. See if you can use a preview function.

Hi, I've got an HP Photosmart D7160. It continually says "Paper Jam". Actually the error screen says something like "please remove paper jam and then press OK", but there is no paper...

This error message is displayed by the printer when paper is jammed in one or more locations. In such a case, users are recommended to remove the jammed paper from the specified location. The entire paper path must be checked for any pieces of paper. To stop the message, open and close the top most cover of the printer. Lastly, verify the flags and the sensors. If the problem persists, the cause of the error message could be a broken sensor or sensor lever.get more help and information for hp printer support hope this helps you.

Thanks

Paper size mismatch - c5280 hp all-in-one printer

I got around this problem by tricking the printer. The paper sensor, on my printer model hp4500 seems to only sense the paper at the beggining of the print job. What I did to trick the printer to print on odd size paper is slide the paper adjuster to 8.5 and put a regular white sheet in. Then put your odd size paper under it. When you print your document set the number of copies to 2 and print. The printer is going to sense that the paper is correct, and start the job. Here is the tricky part... one the first 8.5x11 sheet is almost all the way through quickly slide the paper adjuster over to match the size of your odd width paper. The printer should pick up the odd paper and print the second copy. Fool you printa! You should be able to do batches of odd paper size under the first 8.5X11 I hope this helps.

Need to print a half-fold card envelope with HP Photosmart C4480

I'm printing wedding invitation envelopes (or A6) and had to set both my C4480 and psc1315 to a regular size 8.5x11 letter size but changed my margins to reflect the smaller size for my envelope with the left side of the screen being the more narrow margin. After adjusting the top margin accordingly, I fed the envelopes, flap side down and straight into the printer and voila...envelope addresses are printed. Good luck. Blu

My Photosmart D7160 is telling me to turn my paper over as it seems to think the print side is on the back - how can I override this? Thank you

When you want to print something do it via file, print, and a screen should appear with the printers available but also with the properties button. Click the properties button. On the appeared tab with the settings there should be a check box to automaticly select the paper based on sensors. Uncheck that box, click OK, OK and it will not prompt you during this job. If you want to permanently switch this off, go the the same properties tab via start, configuration, printers and scaaners (in XP).
If you use the printer to print direct from a memorycard, go the the settings of teh printer and look for the automatic paper selection setting to switch it off.
