Question about Frigidaire FRS3R5EMB Side by Side Refrigerator
Whirpool Model ED5FHEXLQ01
I have monitored sound of ice maker when shut-off arm is lowered. No sound heard.
I also used a troubleshooting step I obtained from of another on-line source to check water inlet valve. I placed a paperclip in the V and L holes in the front of the ice maker which I believe sends power to the water inlet valve. Water came into the ice maker which should be an indication that the water inlet valve is working properly.
What do you recommend I do as the next trouble shooting step?
Hi: I didn't see the simple first solution to try in your list. The ice maker is thermally protected. It won't make ice until the freezer is at 0degrees F. Set your freezer lower in temperature. It may seem cold to you but it has to be at 0degreesF. Frozen at 32 degrees wont cut it. Please don't open the door every 5 minutes to see if it's made ice, as it will raise the temperature. It appears in your question that you listen for the ice to drop. That's the right way. Give it a day to drop in temp. before resetting the temp. This is a free try before you have to call a technician. I hope this helps, Jeff

Tips for a great answer:
Hello - If your ice maker has stopped producing ice completely, you can try to check the following:
1. It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these: If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire. If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire. In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again.
2. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.
3. The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts!
4. Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary. The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.
