Can't control mouse

I am unable to control this mouse. I have used it successfully for over a year. I can't imagine why I can no longer point and click, etc.

If it is wired try updating the drivers/ reinstalling the drivers, also check the wire connecting it to the pc and make sure there are no severed connections, if these do not work and you are comfortable with doing so take it apart and check the connections to the green board inside the mouse housing. as always if it is under warranty just send it back for a replacement or repair, and find another mouse to hold you off. and last but not least if you find no help here just trash it and get a new one, they are getting cheaper and cheaper.

You may want to check the cord od your mouse for possible breaks. if the cord is okay, change the port if it is a USB mouse. If it is not an optical mouse, then you may want to open it and clean the rollers that the ball under the mouse touches.

Try an external mouse and see if that works. You may need to reinstall the synaptics driver that controls the touchpad. I use an external mouse 100% of the time now.

Satellite P505 Model S8980 - unable to get TouchPad to work now where it did work before. The TouchPad ON/OFF button nor the Fn+F9 approach are no help. A USB-connected mouse worked fine, tho. Just no...

----- control panel - mouse - see if touch pad disabled there ----- have a look in the bios/setup and see if the touch pad is disabled there, as the PC boots - you should see which key to use to enter the bios/setup F2, F10, DEL KEY are often used ----- On some machines a combination of FN and F key can disable/enable the touch pad - F7 or F9 ----- If you point the mouse to the top of the screen you may get a menu dropdown, which will also tell which key to use to disable/enable the touchpad ----- control panel>system>{vista}lefthand side device manger or {XP}hardware>Device Manager>Mouse and other pointing devices>Touchpad>highlight touchpad and right click, Properties, may be an option here to Disable/enable,

Unable to connect to the synaptics pointing device driver

I am assuming that the mouse has batteries installed in it and the CD was used to install the software program for the mouse.
Did you try Normal 0 Turn the mouse over and find the small rest/connect button on the bottom of the mouse and press it to Reset/Connect the mouse to the receiver and work properly.
If not, try pressing the receiver button and then press the mouse. This should be done whenever you change batteries or glitch.
Hope this helps you. Bud

UNABLE TO DOUBLE CLICK USING THE TOUCH PAD

you can solved this problem by following these: 1. Find the icon of your pointing device in the taskbar (mine is synaptics pointing device) 2. point to the icon and right-click on it. 3. check if "Tap To Click" option is checked. 4. if not, then click on "tap to click" option so that it will be checked. 5. try now to double click using the touch pad...and you will be okey now.
