Question about ASUS M2NPV-VM Motherboard

1 Answer

Boot error / No video out

Hi Everyone,

Need your guidance and help on this error I am facing with this MOBO

HTPC Specifications

- Asus M2NPV-VM Motherboard with Built-in nVidia 6150 Chipsets (This has a TV - Out bracket, which I have connected to a Philips 21" TV with an S-Video Cable)
- AMD Athlon 64X2 - Dual Core Processor - 4000+ 2.1 GHz
- Win XP Pro - SP2

Video Driver Version-
Device Date - 1/24/2006

For the past two weeks, the HTPC connected to my Philips TV system, worked very well, except for very occational blackouts of 0.5 seconds. Movie watching has been smooth without any blackouts. Only when using the pc, does the occational blackouts happen.

A couple of days back, without warning, the HTPC refused to start and there was no output on the TV (Even the boot screen, was not seen). The inbuild MOBO speaker, gave - One Long Beep and two short beeps. This went on continuously. Given that this was a AWARD Bios, there is possibility of a video error. Even the component out & S-Video out showed nothing on the TV.

Please can anyone help. Has anyone faced this problem with the motherboard. Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

Re: Boot error / No video out

The beeps are usually due to RAM or key board issues.

I would try by plugging it into a VGA socket of a monitor to see if it works.

Do you have heat problems? one suggestion is to try and reset the bios to default by moving the jumper on the mobo to do a hard reset.

good luck

M2NPV-VM - Fastest Processor?

If ASUS says that is the fastest that will work on the board, then they should know. Incidentally processors don't run at 95 volts although some run at a power consumption of 95 watts. Besides there is not a faster AM2 CPU than the one you mention.

IDE ports in asus m2npv-vm & m2n-mx motherboards

hi, i have a couple of those boards. they have 2 ide ports on them and 4 serial ports. if youu do get the m2npv-vm, one thing that is weird about it, one faces up from the board and the other lays flat off the edge. also the ports are right next to each other and the polarity (which side you put the ribbon cable stripe on) is opposite each other. so if you don't use a keyed ribbon cable you might hook them up wrong.
