Question about Gateway FPD1760 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

My monitor is flashing pretty colors.

My computer suddenly started to behave in a strange way. Pretty colors would start flashing across the monitor in differnt colors and patterns. It is difficult to shut down the computer. Sometimes it would reboot. Other times it would show diagnostic lights and would not boot up. If it boots up and windows loads it would not be long before it blanks out and restarts or the the screen is overrun with the flashing colors again.

Try a different monitor on your computer to make sure whether its the original monitor is bad or if its the video card.

Either a bad video card or cable. Wiggle the cable at the connection points. I would think video card. If it's internal, and you are sure it's a bad internal video, a cheap video card can be a quick check. See if a tech friend has a standard PCI video card to borrow. Let someone knowledgeable install it. Must set BIOS to run video from card installed.

We have a Viewsonic VG900b monitor that recently just started to show some very strange problems. First the colors have all gone dark, as if someone had turned down the Brightness all the way. I can still...

Check the two insertion ends of the power cable and ensure that they are well fitted in. Check your area power voltage range and ensure that the monitor complies with specification.

Make sure you are using the right and GOOD power cable.

Lastly, Unplug from the monitor from the system and allow to cool for a good 3 hours or better still, disengage it from duty for 1 day and start using it the next day.

Do you have enough ventillation there?

Don't forget to rate me and get back to me if this helps. Tnx.

The power button is violet, the monitor won't work

robyn_e_fox, Here is what I would try to do first if my 12 to 15 month old LCD monitor started doing STRANGE things!! If possible try to substitute a KNOWN GOOD monitor in it's place to make certain that your PC is working properly. If PC is OK then you know or are pretty sure that your LCD could be having an internal problem that a technician will need to diagnose and repair. Before paying for ANY repair you should contact the monitor manufacturer and complain about the short life and PREMATURE FAILURE of this LCD. Check to see if they also have a swap-out program in place. And last but not least check with the store where you originally purchased the LCD on what you should do. Hope this helped. loiue12fix on fixya lmistyrel @aol.com

Color and other problems with SyncMaster 910 MP monitor

Go to => http://www.samsung.com/us/
Type 910mp in the search dialog box.
Select Download English Manual. It's about 20mb.
The manual has instructions for setup including adjusting your monitor. There is even a section troubleshooting and a self-test. Good Luck.

Monitor problem - Dark colors, slow screen refresh

It sounds to me like the picture tube in the monitor is going out. I began to wonder if it was your video card until you mentioned that you used it with various computers. This tells me it's the monitor itself. Unfortunetly, I think your monitor may be due for retirement.

Mag innovision LT716s monitor

When I turn on my computer the monitor takes a long time to warm up and colors change and vertical lines flash across the screen from right to left before the screen becomes normal again. Now the power light even goes out upon turning on my computer and I have to unplug the video cord and plug it back in to start the screen back up which even takes longer.

Solid line completly across screen, monitor is brand new

Your comp's video card refresh rate (in Hertz, abbreviated Hz) may not be totally compatible with the monitor. Check the properties of your video card, and change the refresh rate (you may have to look around for it) to 60 Hz. This is a pretty standard refresh rate that works with just about every monitor. If it's already there, I'm afraid someone else will have to try and help!

Hope this helps, and please rate my answer, good OR bad.

Good luck!

Acer Aspire 9810 Screen Problem

Hi No otto,
On the bottom row of keys, you will see one marked Fn, in a different color. Hodl that and look at your top row of keys. Should be one with a laptop screen, and a monitor. The little graphics will be the same color as the Fn key. Tap that once, wait, see if the screen comes to life. Usually that key is set to choose "Just laptop screen, just external monitor, or both", with each tap.
Good luck,

245BW monitor not working (stranges colors ad aeternam...)

I had the same problems as almost all of these people and the answer seems to be that I uninstall the current Nvidia Drivers and use a previous set. The 169.28 were a real problem for me. Just when I thought it was working I would get the strange wash out and I could not turn it off except with the back power switch, aslo using the DVI turns off all the on screen controls.

Good Luck
