Fridge problem Our fridge started switching itself off about 3 months ago. it stays off for about three days, and then comes back on. We've had the fridge for four years, and it hadn't done this before. Sometimes its 30 days, then its 42 between.

Freezer fine, fridge not cooling

This sounds like a small Freon leak. It could come from cleaning the coils, or movement by the compressor. A technician with a gas tester (locator) can find any small leaks and repair that section. The cost is not excessive and a new unit is over $1000, so consider the options.

Why is Fridge Freezer not switching itself back on after 2 hours?

Good Afternoon S Trowell - Thank you for your post! Based on the symptoms you are describing it appears that the thermostat has lost its calibration and is not cycling on or off at the proper temperatures. I would recommend connecting with a professional appliance tech for a clear-cut diagnosis and to proceed further.

The alarm goes off by itself and the fridge will stop working. switch it off for two to three days and it work again for few days

switch fridge off and defrost it 24hrs. inside fridge remove panel and locate the flap on the thermostat. put something behind it to jar it open about half inch. restart fridge and see if it cures problem. if it does fridge thermostat requires replacing. jaring the flap open is only a temporary fix to diagnose problem. but i did mine 4 months ago and still fine

Freezer keeps freezing up and the coils are totally covered with frost. We have to use a blow dryer on it about every 4 days. Sometimes it will last about a week. My husband took the protectoive cover off...

Your defrost system is out check 1 Defrost timer is it cycling. You can put it in defrost manually in the center of the timer is a dial youi can turn with a screwdriver slowly until the fridge shust down then look see if the defrost heaters are coming on. 90 percent it is thew defrost thermostadt it a small round part ussually located in the top left of of the coils jump that and see it the heater come on. replace any or all three the fridge should come back on itself after 30 min if the timer is working.

Bosch Fridge, Freezer OK but Fridge won't cool

Well nobody came up with any other options so I guess it's just defrost a "nonfrosting" fridge every three months or so, just like the old days.
No progress here then in spite of advances? in technology.

Candy fridge freezer

it should come back after about 20 mins only and should cool back after about 10 mins.

i'm afraid the buzzing sound could be coming from your compressor which can not start. the over current relay is tripping off after 20 seconds to prevent the compressor from burning up.
i suggest to unplug the ref, let it cool for 1 day, re plug it after a day and observe the compressor if would run.

if the buzzing sound is still there and the unit is no longer cooling, then the compressor is not running.
check the relay of the compressor. it could just be the relay.

tnx 4 using fixya,

Koolatron Mini Fridge Overheating

Check the condensor fan behind the fridge which is designed to cool the compressor/gas line by blowing air over the condensor. When this fan motor seizes or stops running, the gas gets very hot and because it is skin cooled too, the outside of the fridge also gets very hot. You can overcome the problem temporarily by putting a standing fan behind the fridge, blowing onto the compressor and under the fridge untill you can have the problem rectified.
