Kenmore 106 50522 water leak from Icemaker

I have a Kenmore 106 model (50522100) side by side. My icemaker (ice maker) leaks water. It looks like the water will not stop flowing from the tray fill tube even though the trays are full. My wife came home to the kitchen floor covered with water. Is there an inlet valve that is bad and if so, how do I get to it? Steve...

Thanks Jeff. I will look for the drain. Originally to me it seemed like the pump was not shutting off because of the amount of water on the floor in such a short period of time. There was a puddle on the floor about 5 feet around flowing from the refridgerator and only in about 30 minutes. I guess if it was defrosting and overflowed, then that is possible. There was water frozen inside of the freezer and under the fridge. The ice bin was not a solid block but did freeze a lot of cubes together when the water kept flowing into the trays and over into the bin. Steve...

Hi: Usually if the ice maker malfunctions that bad it will keep running and flood bad. If your defrost drain is plugged it will puddle water. Without knowing how much water you see it is tough for me to say precisely. Does the ice bin have a big block of solid ice or cubes? If cubes I would guess it is the defrost drain at the bottom of the fridge. If the drain is clogged the water wont get to the pan to evaporate. If the defrost water has nowhere to go it will puddle. This would produce more water on the floor in a humid area than a desert like I live in. If so look at the bottom of the freezer in the back below the metal panel. Usually there are slots above it. There will be a hole at the bottom of a shallow rectangular funnel. Turn off the fridge and put your food in a cooler. Pour some warm clorox water in the hole, a fairly strong solution. It should eat out the mold that grows in the base of this non refrigerated line. If something like a frozen pea got in the line you might have to use a pipe cleaner to snake it out. Good luck with this, Jeff

The water supply solenoid valve may be malfunctioning or the fill tube to the icemaker may be mis-positioned.

JSI-26 icemaker leaking water

You're ice maker is located on the left hand side of the freezer, if I'm correct.
Look to the back of the freezer slightly above the ice maker and you will see what they call the fill tube. Chances are ice has formed inside and when the ice maker goes to fill water sprays instead of flows out. In some models you can take the fill tube out from the back by removing two screws that hold it in, located at the upper right side if your behind it, and some you may have to pull out from inside.

Most likely ice maker is the problem and would need replacing. Water valve is letting to much water in but the amount of time solenoid stays open is controlled by the ice maker

My Kenmore side by side refrigerator model 106.5686*601 is leaking water from the ice maker inside the freezer.

Icemaker leaks are common and cannot always be solved. May need a new Icemaker. Ofter you can obtain a kit from Lowes (use a Whirlpool kit.)

Water from ice makers leaks and builds up in botom of freezer

ice maker leaks are usually a sign of icemaker mold corrosion eating the lining off the icemaker causing it to leak. the only repair is to replace the complete icemaker. you will need a complete model number from the unit and the part can be ordered online thru whirlpool or some of the other appliance parts sites. you may even have a local parts warehouse where you live. hopw that helps peyton

Fridge Leaking

the icemaker can overfill causing water to run over into the freezer
the fill cup on the back of the icemaker could be frozen letting the water overflow into the freezer

if the fill cup is not frozen then you need a modlue for the ice maker if it is whirlpool built, if ge or frigidaire design then replace the icemaker
