Thank you for your advise. But the problem still remains.

  • whitewll Jun 01, 2009

    yes I did

  • whitewll Jun 01, 2009

I was in add / remove several times. There is nothing in there that I don't know about. I'm sure it didn't come from Microsoft Updates with all the securities patches. That's about all I can think of. I was running cool iris from Mozilla I took that out. And another app cool previews that was also removed. Pretty baffling isn't it. Right now in performance options I adjusted for "Custom". All the boxes are checked except for the transulent part. Not very good on spelling. I appreciate all your help. Thanks again

That was a good idea. But it didn't work. I disabled all the plug ins nothing unusal with the add on's. Cool previews ask me if I wanted to add it to firefox. So the search goes on. Again thanks for all your help.

You can adjust your graphics properties to not show translucent windows. Once in Performance Options, you can customize this option or choose adjust for best performance to remove all the bells and whistles for more speed. Hope this answers your question. All the best!

The most useful Windows XP performance-tuning options are on the Visual Effects and Advanced tabs of the Performance Options dialog box. You’ll find this box via the System Properties control panel by clicking the Settings button under Performance (Start | Control Panel | System | Performance | Settings). Figure A shows both the Visual Effects and Advanced tabs with the performance options you can easily modify.

When you changed the settings, did you click "Apply" instead of "OK"?

It appears you have an application loaded causing the transparent windows. Several of the programs are called Tweak Window, WindowBlinds, Vista Transformation Pack, and Windows Alpha Blender. Check to see if you have any of these programs installed. If you do, uninstall them, reboot and see if your graphics have returned to normal. There are many programs trying to create the same graphics available in Vista.

I think we're narrowing it down. Since you're using Firefox, open the browser, click on Tools, then click on Add-ons and search for any left over effects from Cool Iris or any other graphics altering software and diable them. Then click on the Plugins tab and do the same thing. I'm pretty sure you'll find something.

Haven't given up, still looking. I'd like to ask you to reconsider the rating you've given me for my solutions. Thanks,

Can't print on transparency film

In order to print on transparency film from a HP8600 all you have to do is load the paper rough side down with the white border going into the tray toward the back of the printer so that you can not see it when you look into the paper tray. The HP 8600 will auto-adjust for the film, that is why you do not have the option to select transparency like you did in the HP 8500

How to get the aeroglass look on none WDDM supported graphics card

Many people have upgraded their computer operating systems from XP to Vista or Windows 7 but their graphics cards don't support the aeroglass effect.
This is because the graphics cards don't support the WDDM drivers so the look of the operating system just looks basic.

There are a couple of little applications which can make the operating system look like it has the aeroglass effect even though its quite basic. Even though the look is quite basic it still looks good enough to have a desirable effect.

If you have seen Windows 7 or Vista which has the aeroglass effect enabled then you will have noticed that you can see through the borders of the windows and taskbar itself.

To achive these looks there are two little applications which you have to download and install.

The first one is True Transparency. This will make the borders of windows transparent.

Download True Transparency from here and install it >>>>>>>>>

http://truetransparency.en.softonic.com/

Take a look at the screenshot below to see how it looks. I'm running this application myself on my laptop with Windows 7 installed.
cbd4da7.png

As you can see the windows borders are transparent. To use and change the look click on the notification area and right click on the True Transparency icon like in the picture below.
01766d5.png

Next we have to work on the taskbar. We are fairly limited with what we can do here but we can still have the transparent effect even though we can't change the colour.

What we need to achive this effect is an application called Tweakwindow.

Download and install Tweakwindow from the link below >>>>>>>

http://www.shareup.com/TweakWindow-download-20010.html

To configure Tweakwindow you will find the application in the nitification area just like with True Transparency.

With these little applications you can have the aeroglass effect without having the need to upgrade your graphics cards of install memory hungry applications like WindowBlinds.
WindowBlinds does work with Vista and 7 but tends to slow down the PC dramatically causing application hangs and system freezes.

Both True Transparency and Tweakwindows works on XP, Vista and Windows 7.

Until a registry hack becomes available to force aeroglass on none WDDM graphics cards we are stuck with using these little applications.

When a registry hack becomes available I will update this tip.

Happy computing.

The troubleshooting wizard will try to detect any problem by running a series of checks against various components required to make Aero works and running, such as video memory, Desktop Windows Manager (DWM) service, color depth, theme, power settings and etc. At the end of the analysis, the wizard will attempt to fix the issues related to Aero service and restart the Aero feature.

Tip: If there is still items that are marked with red cross which indicates is the problems that prevent Aero from working properly, fix the issues and then rerun the "Find and fix problems with transparency and other visual effects" troubleshooting wizard again.

Transparent Images slow down in Powerpoint 2007

ikkenom's solution is wrong. I'm experiencing the same on bleading edge machines. It seems to be an issue overall with high res images and I think it has a lot to do with the program trying to draw a preview image to move around before it actually lets you move. Previous versions of PPT did not do this preview draw and I think that's why we could move our images right away. If anyone knows a registry value or anything else, it would be greatly appreciated.

Transparency is stuck inside copier

The transparency probably melted to the the fuser roller (Did you use a transparencies sheet that was rated for use in copier?) Some copiers have a set function to allow transparencies sheets to run through. If transparencies is wrapped around the roller it maybe removed, but in most cases it needs to be replaced. If your in Maryland you can contact Innovative Copy Products if not contact your local copier dealer and they can help.
