Question about ASUS Eee PC 900 Notebook

Netbook touch pad quit working after attaching a USB mouse

Recently purchased a Netbook - Eee PC 900HD. The touch pad worked fine until I attached a USB mouse; it no longer responds weather the mouse is present or not.
The only settings I've changed are desktop properties. I downloaded the latest updates from the Asus website and installed those. One of which was for the touch pad. To undo that installation, I need to extract a file from the support DVD that came with the Netbook, but discovered that the DVD is blank.
I cannot find a tech support number for Asus in my user manuel or on the website. I have left them an email but recieved no response yet.

Hello,
Go into the mouse options in the control panel and make sure that the touch pad is not disabled.

Hi, Ausus Laptop Gaming. Use to use Logitech wirelewss keyboard and mouse over 3 years no issue. Just today only the mouse stop working, change battery, restart comp., not even the laptop mousepad...

Make sure your mouse and keyboard are close to the receiver (the thing you plug into a usb port). Also make sure you plug the receiver into another usb port because maybe some of those ports are incompatible with the receiver or some ports may be failing. Last, make sure you install the driver (program that came on the cd for your equipment) on the computer.

Laptop Touch Pad will not work

if you plug usb keyboard onto your laptop it will probably turn the touch pad off.
If no other keyboard is attached there is usually a switch to turn off the touch pad.
also if you attach a mouse this may disable the touchpad so you dont move the mouse pointer when you are typing

My mouse quit working

Check if it is plugged in it's proper port (USB slot). Check if the mouse wire is damaged, if not try unplugging it then plug it back in. If it is wireless, check if it still has battery. Better charge it first then try it again.

Remove keyboard on asus 900hd

Usually you have to remove the panel between keyboard and LCD by prying it up after taking the screws out. Then you should find two screws at the top of the keyboard, then pull the LCD and remove the entire top of the laptop, the mousepad in screwed to the top. Remeber to pull all screws from the back of the laptop before doing anything.

Delete (del) key won't work

Try attaching an external keyboard. If the del key works, then you should take your laptop in for service. The keyboard in your laptop may need to be replaced.
