Question about Fuji FinePix S700 Digital Camera

Text imprint on Video with Fuji S700 - remove?

My Fuji Finepix S700 gives me two problems both relating to video recording:

1. The finished video recordings show text imprints at the top and bottom of the screen in a pale grey color. The top line reads: "PICVideo" and the bottom line "www.jpg.com". How did these messages get there and how can I remove them? I have not been able to find a menu option that lets me either add or remove such messages.

2. When recording video with sound, there is this clicking sound. What might cause that and how can I avoid it?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

As for the video goblins: Have you tried reformatting the memory card (in the camera)? It sounds like a built-in advertisement, though www.jpg.com redirects to a site called accusoft.com which DOES do imaging software. Was it a free card from some promotion, or perhaps an off-brand card? Have you tried a different memory card and got the same results? I have an S700 and use it almost everyday, with different capacity and brand cards with no problems. Was the camera purchased new from a reputable dealer and came with a warranty (NOT "open box")? If using a different memory card doesn't solve your problem, I would tend to think that someone "flashed" the firmware in the camera before you got it and added those lines at the top and bottom of your videos. Does it do it when you are just taking pictures and not videos? Have you tried a different viewer program on your computer? Some freebie software video programs put watermarks (your ghostly lines of text at the top and bottom) into the video until you purchase the unlocked version. Do these text lines appear when you are viewing the video in the camera also? As for the "clicking" sound, I am at a loss because there is nothing "motorized" like in the old days of film when a motor was actually transporting the film through a shutter gate and sprocket wheels. No mechanical movement in digital photography, except when using the optical zoom. Is your lens cap swinging in the breeze and striking the camera body? Is the clicking sound steady and constant, or intermittent?

My fuji finepix E510 records images with horizontal lines on LCD screen after I clean the lens with 70% alcohol paper. It still record nice images on near images under flash light. work fine for video...

take a close look to the lens, and if is clean, you have two possible problems 1. the CCD part is almost dead 2. the CCD connector is not in the right position, so you will have to open the camera and ensure that connector is properly set and the lock is on.

Fuji finepix S700 Built in flash not working

It is a common problem. Your flash probably does not pop all the way up. I fixed mine by gluing a spring I made under the flash. The spring is about 3/4 round x 1/2 high with about 1 1/2 turn. It took me a while to get the spring tension right.

Fuji S700

I have this camera and was able to use a "HP Invent" 4GB SDHC card. It worked fine. Although when I insert it tells me at first I have 70 minutes of video and then changes to 39 minutes. However when I recorded I was able to use all 70 minutes. Not sure if other brands or even high GB would work. I am still experimenting myself.
