Canon iP4500 not printing yellow

I have a iP4500, and all my photos are coming out purple. The yellow cartridge seems to be the problem... During nozzle checks, it does print a solid yellow bar, just very, very pale. There is plenty of ink in the cartridge, it's pretty new. Cleaning and Deep Cleaning haven't had any effect on it. Any ideas?

None of the ink nozzles are clogged or dry. I've reinstalled drivers, software, tried printing through other applications... Nothing works. I'm considering just scrapping the printer and getting a new one, certainly not a Canon though!

Take the print head with all the cartridges still installed out of the printer. take a soft microfiber cloth and gently wipe the exposed surface on the bottom of the printhead. You should get some ink to wipe off the printhead.. reinstall and retry your printing.

I'm having a problem with the ink magenta on an IP4500 Canon Printer, it's not printing any magenta even with new cartridges and I've done all the maintenance checks!! Help!

there are small metal spring contacts between the cartridge holder and the cartridge itself, these send the signals to the print head via the cartridge holder. Over time, as a print cartridge moves from side to side during printing these flatten out and no longer come into contact with the cartridge. Find the contacts behind your magenta colour cartridge and re-tension the spring metal contacts so they once again contact the metal faces on the cartridge. They maybe hard to find as they will be in the place where the cartridge goes, use the flat copper faces on the cartridge to give you a clue as to the position of the contacts in the holder.

Hi there I have the original canon cartridges in the printer and they all have lots of ink in them, but suddenly when printing the 'black' parts of a photograph looks purple. But when I print text in...

When you are printing a photograph, the back is resultant of combination of RGB but when you print a latter of document it usages only the black ink. So since the black is properly printed when it's combining RGB that means any of the color is low on ink. Replacing the color cartridge will solve the problem for you.

Color on photos suddenly has a blue - purple wash with no greens

Your yellow cartridge is probably not working as your photos suggest. Remove and reinsert the yellow cartridge. Try printing only yellow color.
Your printer has a separate head for printing; the nozzle for yellow ink might be clogged. Try running a head cleaning routine from your printer software.

I've been doing a great deal of printing with very much left to do. All of a sudden, this afternoon, the prints are all coming out purple.

Most likely you ran out of ink. Canon uses separate cartridges for yellow, magenta and cyan.

Check your ink levels. If the ink is okay, your print heads might be the problem.

Good luck

Canon MP 730 prints wrong color tones

I was having a similar problem-- what was happening was the print cartridge head seemed to be letting the colors leak into each other. (the science behind this is beyond me!)-- I noticed that instead of being cyan/magenta/yellow, my yellow cartridge had actually turned green, magenta was picking up blue and was turning purple, etc etc. I ended up replacing the printer's printhead and all the color cartridges and then it worked.
You can order printheads online.
Not sure if this fixes the original reason why they got all mixed up in the first place-- if the printer will continue to allow the print head to leak the colors into each other-- but hopefully that's a fixit!
