Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GS Router (e125894)

My linksys connection sometimes shows that another wireless network by the name of "Green Table" is within range and my connection strength seems to become lower when the "Green Table network" appears. My search for a wireless network by the name of Green Table has proved to be a nonexistent one. What could this be?

I would go into your settings of your router and change your channel.  It sounds to me like you are getting outside interferance with another router on the same channel.  If you need more assistance, please let me know and I will help you as much as I can.

Top Causes of Intermittent Wireless Connection to a Linksys Router

There are three key reasons that may be cited why the wireless connection between your Linksys router and your computer is intermittent or is experiencing timeouts.
i. You have a low signal quality received from your wireless router.
ii. You are experiencing signal interference from other wireless devices.
iii. Your router's firmware needs to be upgraded.
You have a low signal quality received from your Linksys wireless router.
The location of your wireless router with respect to your computer greatly influences your connection to the wireless network. For a better signal quality, it is ideal that the wireless router is placed in a central spot of your house or on a location free from any obstruction blocking its range.
To determine the signal quality received from your wireless router, you must connect to the wireless network first.

Once connected, check the signal strength received by your wireless adapter or Airport for Mac users. The recommended signal strength should be closest to full bars to have the best connection possible.
You are experiencing signal interference from other wireless devices.
The frequency used by your router's wireless network may be 2.4 GHz, 5GHz or both. Some devices may also be using the same frequency and this causes the interference to the wireless network of your Linksys router. The most common examples are cordless phones, microwave ovens and baby monitors. Another possibility of frequency interference is that there may be other wireless networks in the area. Your frequencies may be conflicting with each other.

I am running qwest DSL through a Linksys wrt160N that is brand new. it will work next to the router, but not upstairs or in the basement which is less than 15 meters. The upstairs bedroom is directly above...


If you have concrete floor slabs the the wireless signal from the Linksys will have a difficult time penetrating the floor slabs.
The wireless card in the computers will show a low signal strength.
Try altering the Linksys aerial to a horizontal position and also positioning the Linksys to another location.

You could be getting interference form other wireless sources, check the wireless channels of other wireless router/access points in your area. If they are broadcasting on the same channel then configure your Linksys to broadcast on an unused channel or one that has the weakest signal strength.
If none of these methods work then I would suggest you run network cables from the Linksys to upstairs and downstairs and not use the wireless connection.
If network cabling option is not an option then consider extending the wireless range with wireless repeater access points.

Linksys WRT54GX4 loses internet connection


Not a problem, you have to consider maybe other devices and or networks competing/interferring with your network. If you know how to enter the Linksys router menu I would 1. change the frequency the router operates on 2. change the channel the router will use 3. change the default password to something else besides the default.

All of the settings for your router out of the box are at default, wonder how many other people are running the same thing in your neighborhood? I always change from the default, you may also be receiving interference from devices using the same freq/channel as your router. Changing these will eliminate those possibilities.

Don't forget to encrypt your network, that is most important.

Range is very poor


You need to change the wireless channel of the router. Access the router's setup page through http://192.168.1.1, no username, password is admin. Go to wireless tab, Select Manual Setup, change the Radio band from auto to Wide Range. Also change the Wireless network name to a different name then click on save settings at the bottom. Power cycle the router, unplug it for about 30 sec then plug it back in.

well do on ething first .... when u try to connect to the network ....
there would be an advanced option there or in short it would be an option for removing the prefered networks .....

remove every prefered network from there ....

Xbox 360 wireless adapter not finding network


Hello Sir,

Reset your AX by holding a pin or pen tip and count to 20.
Plug Airport Express
Wait a few minutes

1. Open Airport Utility
2. Manual Setup
3. Airport Icon -> Wireless Mode -> Join a wireless network
4. Network Name -> Enter the SSID of your Linksys router
5. Choose the same wireless security that you are using on your Linksys Router
6. Wireless Password -> Enter the wireless key that is on your Linksys router.

In the Music Icon, you should be able to find "Enable iTunes"

AX will continue to blink for a bit, perhaps a minute, while it searches and connects to the Linksys Router.

Should turn green.
