Well i understand why the remote won't eject the disk because there is no eject function button on the remote. The top pannel function button's are the only way to eject a disc on this system. on these units I have seen the button's go bad and need replacement. More likely the dvd section of the unit is starting to go bad. Bose has a reasonable factory repair rate. The drive swap is simple but requires some technical skill. Obtaining the drive is difficult as bose does not sell just the drive. I have listed myself and seen some listed on ebay for sale. I hope this helps. Dan

I have satellite C50D-B-10q. How do I open the CD/DVD drive?

Removing discs
To remove the disc, follow the steps as detailed below:
Do not press the eject button while the computer is accessing the optical disc drive. Wait for the optical disc drive indicator to go out before you open the disc tray. Also, if the disc is spinning when you open the disc tray, wait for it to stop before you remove it.
1. To pop the disc tray partially open, press the eject button. Gently pull the disc tray out until it is fully opened. When the disc tray pops open slightly, wait a moment to make sure the disc has stopped spinning before pulling the disc tray fully open.
2. The disc extends slightly over the sides of the disc tray so you can grasp it. Gently lift out the disc.
3. Push the center of the disc tray to close it. Press gently until it locks into place.

How to remove disc when the disc tray will not open:
Pressing the eject button will not open the disc tray when the computer power is off. If the power is off, you can open the disc tray by inserting a slender object (about 20 mm) such as a traightened paper clip into the manual eject hole near the eject button.

Manual eject hole:
Turn off the power before you use the manual eject hole. If the disc is spinning when you open the disc tray, the disc could fly off the spindle and cause injury.

Dvd stuck in tv/dvd combo

There is sometimes a pin hole in the front of the device near the tray, you push something very slender into it and it opens the disc tray. If This doesnt have that feature, you may need to manually dissasemble to retrieve your disc.

There is no eject etc button on the remote control because what use would it be? To insert or change a disc, the operator would have to be in reach of the drawer with a disc to hand.

This is a common problem with optical drives. There is a small band/pulley inside that connects the ejection motor to the gear action, This reduces stress on the gears and it helps with smoother motion while running. The issue comes in where the band/pulley becomes worn out and loosens a bit and this causes a reduction in friction against the spindle the band/pulley is on. You may need to get a new band/pulley for your optical drives ejection system in your media center. The whirring sound you happen to hear it the ejection motor spinning but its not catching on the band/pulley.

I have a lifestyle 18 bose system which only plays region 2 DVDs. How can I get it to play region 1 as well?

Hi, check below the media center/DVD player as to what region your system was fixed into (indicated by a number inside a globe). This is located underneath the unit just beside the serial number. FI the system indicates that your system indeed is set to region-2 then proceed as follows. IF it marks a different number region, then bring the unit to the Bose service center.

Steps in UNLOCKING REGION CODE of media center:

1. Load a DVD and wait for the display to show "REGION CODE ERROR, CONTACT BOSE"
2. Once this comes out, press eject button on your remote control but do not remove DVD disc
3. Press the following button commands in sequence (make sure they are in sequence and are pressed by looking into the media center display where a small green dot should blink indicating that each command is received).
4. First you need to initiate the system region change on the remote control:
a.while the tray is out and the DVD is still in the tray, press and release "RIGHT" arrow button
b. then press and release "UP" arrow button
c. after, press and release "SHUFFLE" button
d. then press and release "STOP" (black square symbol) button
e. lastly, press and release "MUTE" button and system should go on mute (indicated in the LCD display

After this, you now can change the region code by doing the following button press on your remote control:
1. While the DVD tray is out still and the DVD disc is in the tray, press and release "STOP" button (black square mark)
2. Press and release "SHUFFLE" button
3. Press and release number "0" button on numeric keypad
4. Lastly, press and release "ENTER" button on your remote control and the DVD tray should go back inside the DVD. The disc then should start loading and playing resumes.
5. Allow the DVD disc to run for a few minutes (if you want enjoy a full movie) to keep the region change resident before switching off again.

Now enjoy your Bose Lfiestyle DVD System REGION FREE!!!

Do note, this does not apply to Bose DVD system that are locked to region-1

Glad to be of service always!

Original Xbox disc tray not opening properly

Hello,

I found this posted on cheapassgamer.com

"
Greetings, Ladies and Gentlemen.
Since I was able to solve my Xbox's tray problem completely (for now) due to this site, I felt it necessary to contribute to the forum, in order to (hopefully) help the next person with the same problem.

First, let me note that my Xbox has a Samsung drive. This method may only work if you have a Samsung or Hitachi drive, as they have the lever action emergency release.

Issue:
A) Xbox DVD tray will not eject when eject button is pressed, instead making a clunk / thump noise, as if being blocked from ejecting due to media inserted incorrectly – irregardless if media is present in the tray.
B) Tray will sometimes eject if button is pressed multiple times.
C) Tray will only eject if Xbox is thumped upon directly above the tray.

Solution:
A) First, go to http://www.xbox-mod.co.uk/index.php?...mergency-eject . Then, scrounge up a paper clip and proceed to manually eject your DVD tray.

B) Next, remove the Xbox logo front panel from the DVD tray. This is fairly easy to do, but you must be gentle, or you might break the tray or the front panel. The way to remove it is to take a pair of needle nose pliers and use them to gently pull the bottom clips away from the tray's underbelly before pushing the front panel up. You can also unclip one side, then the other if you are having difficulty.

C) Use the eject button to close the tray. Now open it again. If it still refuses to open (as did mine), use the paperclip and manually eject the tray.

D) Now, loop your finger through the open DVD laser slot in the tray, and gently pull the tray towards you – it will come out a wee bit more, and then stop. Do not force the tray to extend any farther than that.

E) WHILE THE DRIVE IS STILL OPEN, use your paperclip on the manual eject lever. It may take a moment to trigger it, as it is currently depressed, but if your Xbox and DVD Rom are like mine, it will actually draw the tray back in.

F) Poke the Eject button. It should pop open without any argument at this point. Try it a few times, just to be sure, if you'd like. Then, slide the front panel back onto the tray, and you should be good to go… until the next time the P.O.S. decides to slip a gear.

What's that? Slip a gear? Yep. As far as I can tell, that's exactly what is causing the trouble with the drives. Pushing them closed with your finger will force the motor to engage, yes? Well, eventually it seems the cheap DVD Rom's in the Xbox get fouled up, the motor kicks in a bit too late, closes the tray too far, and slips a gear. Then it will clunk / thump at you impotently until you fix it. What we have just done seems to reset the engagement point on the motor, and allows the eject button to work properly again. An easy solution to this problem is to always use the eject button to load and eject media, but you can't always ensure your guests are going to adhere to that policy (Or that the Xbox won't pull it shut too hard just to spite you, the foul tempered little…).

For Thompson and Phillips Drives, that use a gear to manually eject the tray, I would assume that pulling the tray forward, then advancing the gear manually until it refuses to do so, and then pushing the eject button might work. If anyone tries this and succeeds, reply to this message and let us know.

Thanks again for leading me to my solution (even if it may only be temporary), and I hope my suggestions have led you to yours."

Hope this helped please rate.
