Question about Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 Notebook

Cannot get past BIOS password request in my Satellite L305D-S5900

Hey guys. So I bought this laptop almost a couple of years ago, but then my wife got a new computer from work, so I started using her (better) laptop instead, and my Satellite spent some time collecting dust in the garage. Now I want to give the Toshiba to my nephew, but I cannot remember the password when the computer boots up. As soon as I start the computer, there is a black screen with a blue box in the middle that asks me for my password.

I'm pretty tech savvy so I did some research and found that I'm not the only one with the problem. However, the only solutions involve putting a floppy disk in the laptop with a keydisk.exe program on it... but guess what... it doesn't have a floppy drive in the laptop!

The only other solution I heard was to take apart the laptop, expose the motherboard, and take out then put back in a small battery that looks like a nickel. I don't feel very comfortable taking apart a laptop...

So I'm wondering what do I do now? I don't have the Windows install CD... Please help!

Hello
You will need to take the machine apart and short a jumper on the system board, if you do not know what you are doing I recommend that you take your machine to a repair shop.
You want to look on the system board for a jumper called J45 - this will allow you to short the computer and remove the BIOS password.
ONLY DO THIS IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!

Toshiba satellite l305d-s5900 not booting after CPU change

Computer does not boot up The problem maybe the RAM, it is faulty or just needs reseating to make proper electrical contact.
Reseat the RAM and then boot up your laptop. If it still does not boot up then remove the RAM module/s and take them to your friendly computer repair shop and get them to test the RAM for you. Just like you sometimes need a mechanic to repair your car, sometimes you do need a technician to diagnose and identify the fault or faults on your computer. Not only does a good service technican have the experience to deal with this type of problem, they also have the equipment that allows them to look at things the average computer user can't see, and he has a collection of replacement parts that can be used to quickly test individual components on your computer.

Possible that the hardware drivers must be reinstalled . So reset the PC by restoring to an earlier set point. If not it is best to reinstall the OS- operating software and then the hardware drivers.
There is a high possibility that there is virus that had hung the system and so a reinstallation will confirm. If not there is fault on the hardware.

How do I clear the CMOS password on my Satellite

Hi,

To remove the bios (cmos) password, With notebook turned off;

Open Wi-Fi Cover that's located under the laptop and remove the WiFi card, locate & Short Out pin JP1 for 15 Seconds, or short out pin G1 for 15 seconds.

Sometimes you have to short the pins out while turning the laptop on.

The power on (bios) password will now be cleared so you will need to enter the bios to input the date and time.

Power on password for toshiba satellite m30-107

You can by shorting the CMOS/BIOS battery connector for 30 sec's with a resister pack (2.4 KOhms), but if you don't have any PC repair experience, don't try it!

"You can blow the motherboard if you get it wrong.."

I suggest you take it to a Toshiba repair shop, it will cost about $100 to have them do it for you.
