Question about Toshiba TW40F80 40" Rear Projection Television
Red light come on but blinks,no sound and no picture
You likely have bad convergence ouput IC's that have caused a fuse to blow. The IC's are fed with a +27v and a -27v and the fuse for one of those supplies is likely open. If so you will also need to replaced the convergence output IC's type #STK392-120.

Here's a solution that I received from an TV expert in another website: "This sounds like a power supply problem. i have seen it several time on
your model. i would not keep trying to turn it on it might damage
something else in the tv. the reason it is shutting off is because the
power supply is putting out too much voltage. a repair cost will range
around 300-400. this is a great model and well worth a repair. here is
a web site that might help you in finding a repairman.
http://www.nesda.com/locator/state_search.php." <-- $300-$400 is too much! But throwing away a 300lbs TV will cost a lot of $$$ for the towing and dumping too. I haven't decide what to do yet.
