Safety switch in the seat area

We have a riding more troy bilt I think. We have to bounce on the seat to get the more to start. What is wrong with the safety?

It seems when the seat is sat on the connections are not touching at all. When no one is on the seat. Every ting is compressed together. When I sit on it the spring pulls something forward and the metal pieces are not touching.

How do I adjust brake/clutch start on troy bilt 42in riding lawnmower

Sounds like a safety switch is not working right. Mine won't start unless I pull back on the handle that engages the blades. If I make sure that handle is pulled up as far as it will go it starts. I disconnected the safety for the seat because when I turned my body the seat moved and shut the unit off and its a new machine.

My 50" troy bilt zero

All riding mowers have a seat safety, blade engage safety and a brake clutch safety, some mowers have a reverse mowing safety. Seat under the seat, blade and brake you will have to check the linkages underneath, and if there is a reverse mowing one I have seen them near the shifter handle right under the fender.

Put a new battery on it and still wont turn over

Check all of your safety circuits: Drive safety, blade safety, seat safety.
Naturally, ensure that your key circuit is operating.

I have a brand new troy-bilt self powered lawnmower that won't start. Please advise what I could be doing wrong

Could you post a model number please? On many newer riding lawn mowers there is a seat switch that has to be activated by someone sitting in the seat to start the engine. Check for any loose wires or disconnected wires from the seat switch. Also the engine must have the correct amount of oil in it. There is an oil level sensor that will ground the ignition / kill the spark if the oil level is too low.

So check the seat switch (IF installed) and the oil level. If there is a seat switch in the seat there should be a seat safety note in your owners manual.

Thanks for using FixYa.
