MS VX-6000 webcam Mic / Video problems

My new VX-6000 web cam (3rd one from Best Buy) doesn't seem to work at all when I have both the mic AND video going. It works fine in Skype and MSN Messenger Live with just audio...but when I go to use both Mic (audio) and Video, the person on the other end has to turn down their speakers due to the screeching noise sounds and can only hear my garbled voice off and on. I've bought and taken back 3 of the darn things and no dice each time I try a new one. My bandwidth is fine (4600Kps download and 750 to 800kps upload with DSL connection) and I 'think' my USB ports where I've tried plugging it in all of them, are working ok. My NIC is set for maximum thoroughput, etc. Running windows XP SP2 with all latest updates. Tried using MB built in sound, Audigy Sound Blaster PCI card, etc. Real weird echoing voice when I run through the sound setup though via windows. I don't think it's skype or MSN. And I don't think it's the least I don't think it is. Could it be my USB ports on my MB are zapped or something?

I don't know how to cancel the mic on the cam and just use video. Some one in another post suggested this...

"could be ambient/background noise being picked up by in-camera microphone"...huh? Unless my creative 5.1 speaker set or monitor is giving off ambient vibratioins (*L*)..I don't know what other noice it could be picking up. Thanks for any suggestions.

When I activate my video on the vx-6000, the other

Does that webcam have a USB plug AND an audio jack to plug into your computer? If so, you don't need to plug in the audio jack connected to it, and that should help with the heavy static the other person gets. Then again, unless you have another mic plugged into your computer on a headset or something, you won't be able to send audio because the mic to the webcam would be unplugged.

I hope this helps.

Hello, I'm about to buy VX1000 webcam, but I wonder if there will be any conflict with the build-in mic in my laptop (HP, XP Pro SP3) or not. Other makes have dedicated cable with 3,5mm jack to hook the...

Shouldn't be any problem. The VX1000 has a built-in mic and is accessed via the USB connection. When you use applications like MSN Messenger or Yahoo Messenger then you can specify which cam to use (if your laptop has a buit-in one), and also which mIc. So you could if you wanted use the laptop mic and VX1000 cam, or use the mic in the cam.

No sound on webcam video call ONLY

You will probably need to reconfigure whatever software you are using for the video call to pull audio from the Onboard Mic from the Cam. If it is not configured to pull the audio from that Mic on the Cam, it may be looking for audio somewhere else. This is sadly an issue with a lot of Video Chat software applications.

Microsoft webcam VX 6000. Buzz on video capture

I took the cam apart, removed the mic from its seat and gently separated the red and black wires - ran the red one over top the lens and the black one underneath. Replaced the mic, screwed it all back together and the problem is gone. For now. One tip is to record sound using Windows Sound Recorder while you're doing this, watch the input line and when it goes flat you know the buzz is gone. While it buzzez, the line will be active.

Lifecam video works great - but no audio!

do a cam/mic test in the audio/video settings in the tools tab in yahoo/msn. Then you need to minimise the yahoo/msn screen and right click on the cam icon in the taskbar and check that the mic and cam are enabled and that it is set to allow other programes to take control of this device

Problem with the audio

could be ambient/background noise being picked up by in-camera microphone - switch over to boom mic w/ noise canceling and see if it clears up. Make sure you change settings in Windows Audio Properties.
