Question about HP LaserJet 5si mopier Printer

1 Answer

I have an HP LaserJet 5si MX printer with 40MB and a JetDirect J2552B card (ver. A.08.06) installed and often when it comes out of POWER SAVE mode I get this error displayed on the LED display on the front of the printer: 56.1 ERROR PRESS SELECT KEY When this happens, I have tried pressing the select key, but usually the printer will not respond any longer and I must power cycle the printer. This has become very annoying and I just wondered if anyone else had this problem and what they did about it? Kind of sucks for an HP printer. I thought they were all about quality? -Alan Edwards replace nospam with xnet My HP does the same thing occasionally. I am using it with a Mac. I think it has something to do with the fact that the HP is designed to work with both Postscript and non-PS systems, and is meant to auto-detect between them. For example, I only want to use PostScript. I seem to recall that there is a way to de-activate the mode you never want to use, and then you will lose the confusion, which I think comes from the auto-detection routines. I could be wrong on this, but long ago, a friend fixed this for me, but when I changed computers, it became unfixed.  Another thing that likely triggers the confusion is noise in the AC supply. At the office, when we moved the plug to another circuit, the problem went almost completely away, from once a day to once a month. At my house, it came back when the power company changed the transformer in our area. Co-incidence?

Illegal input or bad accessory connector. 1. Turn the printer off, and then turn the printer on. 2. Check the printer’s configuration. 3. Verify accessory connection. You've got a printer that's over ten years old. That's prehistoric in dog years. Don't complain about quality it's time for a replacement printer. Meanwhile check the accessory connections. Something might be loose or corroded.

Try removing the JetDirect card, then see if the machine will boot and print a test page. If it works without JetDirect, then try replacing the JetDirect card.

No display clean ram and switch on ok but not reddy 49.FF05 ERROR in valied nand key press any key

ISSUE: A 49.x service error appears on the HP Color LaserJet 4500 or 4550 printers display, and other unexpected errors may be displayed such as:

  1. Turn the printer off, and then turn it on again. If the 49 error clears, proceed to Step 9.
  2. If the 49 error returns turn the power off, unplug the power cable, disconnect all network cables, and remove the HP Jetdirect card, which is located on the formatter, (see Figure 1 for location), or any third-party devices, if installed.
  3. Wait at least 30 seconds before plugging the printer back in directly to a wall outlet. Do not plug the printer into a power strip or a surge protector.
  4. Turn the printer on, using a cold reset. If the 49 error returns, turn the power off, and unplug the printer. Remove the formatter, and check that the parallel I/O board is firmly installed on the formatter board.
NOTE: To perform a cold reset, turn the printer off, and hold down the GO button while turning the printer back on. Remember to remove the Jetdirect card (if installed) before performing a cold reset. (The Jetdirect card is located on the formatter).

Hp laserjet 4250 error 49.4oc2 service

If the error won't go away, the printer could have a bad memory DIMM, a bad JetDirect card, a bad Firmware DIMM or a bad Formatter.

Pull out the JetDirect and power up. If the error is gone, try reseating the JD. If error reappears get the card replaced. If the error is still present after removing the JD call a tech to look at it.

Can anyone tell me what an error message 82.0180 means on an HP Laserjet 4100?

Error 82.0180 means that the JetDirect Firmware is corrupted. Refer to your manual how to cold reset the JD (JetDirect) card. JetDirect card enables network printing. If problem persist after cold reset, you may need to purchase a new JD card or bring your printer to HP service center for repair.

Hp 8150 io error

Most I/O errors are the jetdirect card. You can try removing and reinstalling the card. You can also try installing the card in other MIO slot.

If the card is a jetdirect 615 failure is common replace with the 620.
