Why does my vehicle make a jerking motion and a squealing sound when I turn the steering wheel all the way to the right or to the left?

It sounds as though the CV joint(s) on the steering--a sort of universal joint--may be failing. I really would not chance it further without professional advice.

Hi, first check your tire pressures are equal then check/replace wheel drive belts and pulleys for uneven wear. If all ok adjust the drive link arms until it travels straight. Regards Phil.

You can eventually find your manual here:

http://www.dixon-ztr.com/node2171.aspx

There are a ton of manuals.... on that page. Looks like it will be a tedious hunt with out a model number.

If the link does not work go to
http://www.dixon-ztr.com
and click on support.

If you can come up with a part number you might be able to get it here:

http://www.lawnmowerpros.com/Dixon.htm

They also have parts manuals on this page:

Dixon ztr 311 The left lever will not make the mower go forward and the right will not make it go back. Any ideas?

The motion drive design is similar to a set of spider gears, except it uses friction material rather than bevel gears in the cluster. The friction material may be worn down to the point that it no longer engages and needs replacement. This is a likely scenario for the symptoms you describe.

The replacement procedure is a rather involved process. If you feel confident and are VERY handy, reply to this post and I'll be happy to go into detail.
Hope this helps!
