This is true.. the problem with tracfones is that they are very hard to unlock..
You could try by unlock codes at http://www.unlocksamsungonline.com/samsung-unlock-codes/

however by cable will not work. Before you purchase any unlock by codes service check if you can enter the unlock codes.

Put a different simcard in the phone and turn it on. Then let me know exactly what the phone says..

This is most likely a damaged pixel. You're either going to have to return it or get a replacement. Or for that matter, put up with it. Sorry

i had the same phone, you need to replace it. its something internal

My boyfriend has a samsung convoy and his phone does this every time it dies, he fixes his taking the battery out, then he puts the battery back in, and BEFORE you turn the phone back on put the charger in and let it charge for a min or two. Then try turning the phone back on.

hey, make sure that the simcard that you are using is supported by your celphone, the one that they called openline means all networks or simcards can be use with it.

it might not do anything except say *restricted* but most likely it will say if someone calls you *incoming call restricted* =)

Possible the earpiece has gone bad. Can you test with another earpiece?
Remove battery and examine metal contact points for dirt. Can clean with a pencil eraser.

The Samsung Alias can only use up to 2gb microSD cards. I had this same problem after purchasing a 12 gb card only to discover that I could not use it with this phone. Hopefully this will be fixed when they make the Alias 2.
