What does it mean when one reads FD in the panel and the lights on the panel aren't stable?

The control board to your range may have been damaged because of the lightning storm. It happens when lightning strikes a power line and sends a surge of power to your home. This large current surge can easily damage electronic circuits. More often than not if a device is on and lightning strikes, that is when the device gets damaged. During large lightning storms it is best to turn off all electronic devices. The electricity going to your house is fine now and that is probably what your electrician checked.

When and How Should a Surge Protector Be Used on a Fixed Switch?

Common Causes of Lightning Strikes
  • Outdoor network cables or power cables are routed overhead.
  • A switch is deployed outdoors but is not properly grounded.

Damages of Lightning Strikes
  • If power cables of a switch are routed overhead in an outdoor environment, lightning strikes may burn the power supplies.
  • If network cables of a switch are routed overhead in an outdoor environment, lightning strikes may burn interfaces of the switch.
When a switch undergoes lightning strikes, overvoltage is induced by lightning on network cables and transmitted to interior of the chassis. The surge protection measures, such as lightning rod and chassis grounding cannot prevent the damage. Therefore, surge protectors or surge protection circuits are recommended.

Surge Protector Use Precautions Take the following precautions to protect a switch from lightning:
  • Ensure that the ground cable is connected to a ground bar or a ground point on the cabinet.
  • Avoid routing cables overhead in an outdoor environment. Bury cables underground or route them in steel tubes.
  • To protect network interfaces against lightning, use 8-line surge protectors (or Huawei certified 4-line surge protectors).
  • When installing a network interface surge protector, connect the IN end to terminals and the OUT end to network interfaces of the switch.
If a fixed switch is installed in a network box, follow these instructions:
  • Connect the ground cables of the switch and surge protectors to the ground bar in the network box.
  • The maximum length of a ground cable cannot exceed 40 cm, and a length of smaller than 15 cm is recommended.
  • If the network box is located outdoors and power cables are routed aerially over a long distance (more than 300 m) to the network box, it is recommended that you install a power supply surge protector in the network box. The decoupled power cable must be at least 3 m long

Plasma Panasonic TV stopped working

Lightning-damaged electronics are a gamble to repair. Sometimes the problem is a single component, but more often multiple components are damaged, and even if you get it working, something else may die shortly thereafter. If you are lucky, only one board was damaged. My recommendation, if you have homeowner's or renter's insurance, is to put in a claim for the TV and get it replaced.

Having put forth that caveat, the blinking red LED hints that you may have enough left of the set for it to be repairable, especially given that much of a plasma set is already built to cope with high voltages. Try downloading a service manual and following the troubleshooting procedure. Here's the link (it's a Hungarian site, but there's enough English available to find things):

Power surge caused by lightning strike, TV is dead, any Thoughtd/ does this damage every components?

Lightning can cause serious damage. You will surely want to get a professional diagnoses. What is damaged depends on where the surge came in at, and the intensity of the surge. If the surge came in through the power cable, most likely your power supply board has damage. But I have seen situations where the surge came in though an HDMI or coax connection and just take out the main board. But the moral of the story is to get a proper diagnoses, you could have several boards damaged.

After a lightning storm my bosch single 30" wall oven displayed an F03 err. I turned the power supply off at the breaker for one minute as directed by the oven's manual. This action did not...

Find out what the F03 error is for and then check out the appropriate area. If there was a strike of surge the most likely place to look for damage is the area where the electricity first enters into the device.

My phone line have problem efter heavy storm

Does your home have a lightning arrester on the phone line? If not there may have been physical damage caused to your phone. although most modern homes have lightning arresters on the line. and in this circumstance a lightning hit would have burned out the arrester causing issues or a dead line. you need to have your local phone company come out and isolate the problem.

After a lightning storm, my TV will not turn on. Is there a fuse or something on the in coming power that may have blown causing it not to turn on?

Any TV subjected to a power surge will have problems. If you can remove the back cover, do so. Locate the glass fuse. In the best situations the fuse is clear and opened, and replacement will repair your TV. In worst cases the fuse may be blackened, and you will see that many components are burned and shattered. If this latter is true, only replacing the TV is your best bet. In many cases electronics may be connected to surge protectors, but lightning will over ride these devices and cause damage. I have seen this happen many times. Thanks for asking and show all hands of support!

This morning I tried to turn my RCA TV (model 24R411T) on and nothing happened. I tried plugging it into a different outlet, still nothing. I tried leaving it unplugged about 10 minutes and trying again,...

Power surges or nearby lightning strikes can destroy electronic equipment. However, most of the time, damage is minimal or at least easily repaired. With a direct hit, you may not recognize what is left of it!

Ideally, electronic equipment should be unplugged (both AC line and phone line!) during electrical storms if possible. Modern TVs, VCRs, microwave ovens, and even stereo equipment is particularly susceptible to lightning and surge damage because some parts of the circuitry are always alive and therefore have a connection to the AC line. Telephones, modems, and faxes are directly connected to the phone lines. Better designs include filtering and surge suppression components built in. With a near-miss, the only thing that may happen is for the internal fuse to blow or for the microcontroller to go bonkers and just require power cycling. There is no possible protection against a direct strike. However, devices with power switches that totally break the line connection are more robust since it takes much more voltage to jump the gap in the switch than to fry electronic parts. Monitors and TVs may also have their CRTs magnetized due to the electromagnetic fields associated with a lightning strike - similar but on a smaller scale to the EMP of a nuclear detonation.

Was the TV operating or on standby at the time? If it was switched off using an actual power switch (not a logic pushbutton or the remote control), then either a component in front of the switch has blown, the surge was enough to jump the gap between the switch contacts, or it was just a coincidence (yeh, right).

If the TV was operating or on standby or has no actual power switch, then a number of parts could be fried.

TVs usually have their own internal surge protection devices like MOVs (Metal Oxide Varistors) after the fuse. So it is possible that all that is wrong is that the line fuse has blown. Remove the cover (unplug it first!) and start at the line cord. If you find a blown fuse, remove it and measure across the in-board side of fuse holder and the other (should be the neutral) side of the line. The ohmmeter reading should be fairly high - well certainly not less than 100 ohms - in at least one direction. You may need to unplug the degaussing coil to get a reasonable reading as its resistance may be 25 or 30 ohms. If the reading is really low, there are other problems. If the resistance checks out, replace the fuse and try powering the TV. There will be 3 possibilities:

It will work fine, problem solved.

It will immediately blow the fuse. This means there is at least one component shorted - possibilities include an MOV, line rectifiers, main filter cap, regulator transistor, horizontal output transistor, etc. You will need to check with your ohmmeter for shorted semiconductors. Remove any that are suspect and see of the fuse now survives (use the series light bulb to cut your losses - see the section.

It will not work properly or appear dead. This could mean there are open fusable resistors other defective parts in the power supply or elsewhere. In this case further testing will be required and at some point you may need the schematic.

There is a high probability that your laptop has been fried, especially if it was plugged into the mains at the time of the lightning strike.
A lightning strike could damage many components and even if you could get it fixed (most likely require a motherboard replacement) there are no guarentees that some other component won't fail in the future.
If it was me, I would put my money towards a new laptop and get a surge/lightning protection power board and disconnect the laptop from the main during a lightning storm.
