Freezer works but refrig has 60 degree temp .evap coil is caked

I have a side by side jenn air model jcd2389ges and the evap coil when I take the freezer back cover off is totaly frozen .I want to change the defrost adaptive board but do not know where it is hidden .could it be in the refrg section on the ceiling that house the temp slide controls? if so ,How does this housing come down and where under there is it located .I see white insulation. does that come apart? I have the same problem with the right side (refrigerator side) warm but left side (freezer) is working fine. Prior to this the Jennaire refrig was making a rattling noise above the filter in the refrig side. jenn air jcd2389ge fridge side not cold does not appear to have cold air coming in even when damper door is openned manually

Hi: Did you check the defrost heater itself? I checked Jennair and Sears parts to no avail. If you didn't check the heater it will be at the bottom of the freezer behind where you removed the back cover. A glass tube with a coil in it. If the coil or tube is broken replace that insead. I hope I helped, Jeff I found a website with the defrost timer, but not the location of the timer on the fridge. http://www.appliancepartsworldwide.com/store_SearchResults.aspx?S=1131392&ST=PBM

That rattling noise is the same noise i got when my adaptive defrost control failed; 2X's! it is where you suspect. in the firg, highest back right hand corner. pull the plastic shield forward careful not to break the rear clips and remove. loosen two philips screws behind the light bulbs (you can take them out if you want), and remove 3 x 1/4 socket screws. it is in a white plastic housing sitting in the right back compartment of the plastic piece you unscrewed. you can get the part at repairclinic dot com for $70.

MY JENN-AIR REFRIGERATOR #JCD2389GES IS NOT COOLING ON THE REFRIGERATOR SIDE. THE FREEZER IS OKAY. THE REFRIGERATOR TEMPERTURE IS 60 DEGREES F.

Possible that the vent is getting blocked to prevent the cool air to be blown into the fridge section. So make sure that the auto defrost is working, if not check the auto defrost timer section, the fan, the heaters.
make sure that the thermostat is set to normal.
Finally shut off the fridge for 6-8 hours and see if the cooling resumes. If so the defrost section must be revisited

I have a jenn-air jcd2389ges that is not getting cold.it runs and works but is not getting cold ..

If the freezer is staying cold it sounds like a defrost system problem. A bad timer, heater or thermostat can cause frost to build up on the coils and block air flow to the refrig side. Check out ACMEHowTo.com for troubleshooting the defroster problem.

My Jenn Air refrig model # JCD2389GES is not cooling on the refrigerator side but is fine on the freezer side.I changed the thermostat and was good for 40 days, then the nightmare started again.

the problem is in your freezer
you need to opaen the wall inside the freezer and see if there is ice build up on the coil.
if it is frozen heard you need new thermostat or heating element. check it first and let me know what you see.
open the back wall (the bottom one)

There is a small duct between the freezer and refrigerator side if this is blocked the frig side won't cool.

Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

Warm refrigerator

Check the freezer fan.
Is it running?
If not, replace fan motor.
Check the damper doors in the fresh food side.
Does air flow through?
