Check to see if you left the blades engaged. There is a safety switch that prevents starting with blades engaged. Easy to miss, happened to a friend of mine last month.

I have a husqvarna riding mower that when i engage the blades the engine stops running

Could be something jamming a blade or belt. With the engine OFF and the key OUT make sure the blades and belts all move freely by hand. Clear out all grass and c**p from the blade and belt areas. You may have to remove the blade deck to do this - instructions are in your manual or download a manual from the Husqvarna website. Good Luck!

My PTO switch does nothing - blades do not engage - how do I fix? I pull up the switch and nothing happens. Model is YTH2448T serial # is 279200, I think it is a 2006 model. Help - please.

With test light check for power at the switch and at the plug of the pto. There might also be a fuse blown. You can always check the pto by jumping power from the battery to the pto with engine off and you can hear it click and see it move to verify that pto is not the problem.
