Question about Zeiss Classic B/GA 524013 Binocular
Hi. I just purchased a mint Zeiss 10x40B TP set of binoculars but I am having difficulty focusing them. Can you please tell me the proper sequence of steps to focus them correctly? I would appreciate any help you can give me. Thank you, David.
Your binoculars are known as the Zeiss Classic or what was once known as the Dialyt. They focus differently from the usual binoculars like those mentioned. The rear wheel is to focus both binocular barrels while using them. The front focus wheel is adjust the right eyepiece to suit your right eye. Binocular manufacturers take into account each eye is slightly different. To focus the Dialyt...First close your right eye and turn the rear wheel until the image is sharp in the left barrel. Leave the focus wheel alone. Now close left eye and adjust the front wheel until the image is sharp for your right eye. The image should now be clear and in focus for both eyes. It should not be needed to use the front wheel from now on. The rear wheel is what you will use to change the focus from near to far objects.

Turn the focus wheel so that the binoculars are as short as they can be.
Look at the eyepieces, one of them will have a scale marked on the side and you are able to turn the eyepiece from side to side.
Start with the eyepiece mark in the central position.
Find an object which is in reasonable focus without moving the main focus wheel
When you have found that close the eye which is looking through the adjustable eyepiece then use the focus wheel to bring the focus in sharp to suit the open eye.
Open both eyes and then use the adjustable eyepiece to bring the other eye into sharp focus
That way you have found the right focus for both eyes.
If the binoculars have two adjustable eyepieces then make sure that both of the adjustments are at the centre position before you start
