Question about D-Link DI-624 Air Plus XtremeG Wireless 108G Router (790069250842)

1 Answer

Strong signal but no connectivity

I have a D-Link 524 wireless router and am having connectivity issues.  My signal is always strong and I always have four green bars.  Only able to access the internet if I am with 15 feet of the access point.  Once I move more then 15 feet from the access point I lose connectivity even though the signal is strong.  I have updated the firware and am unsure how to solve this problem.

Any suggestions...

Weak signal

Where are you measuring the speed:
* transferring files from one computer on your network
to another computer on your network?
* using a "speed-test" web-site ( that reports the speed?

What level of service are you paying your ISP for? "Lite"? "High-Speed"? "Extreme" ? "Nitro" ?

The "bottleneck" could be between your ISP and your router,
not between your router and your computer.

I have a DI-524 Air Plus G Router and would like to send signal to a location 350 feet away in another building. Is this possible? Currently I can receive a very weak signal, but not strong enough to...

not without a repeater or maybe outside antenna. then the signal would probally be too low. you are working too far for wirless and thru building walls.

D-Link DI-524 works with desktop, but laptop can't get signal

Try opening internet explorer and typing in in the address box
If this doesn't work try

For the username and password put admin for username and leave the password blank

Now look for an option for the Wireless Settings and change the channel from usually channel 11 to channel 4 your laptop may now see it. Otherwise try another, channels available in the uk are 1-12, I think it's 1 to 11 in USA

D-Link Airplus di-524 wireless problem

The status light is blinking in all dlink models, so that is normal.

The wireless radio issues have 3 possible solutions.

1. This model has a antenna that screws in the bnc socket behind it see if it's well screwed, or substitute it by another if 2 and 3 don't fix it.

2. On the advaced settings of the wireless configuration you have the ratio of radio broadcast from 25% to 100% check to see if it's on 100%, change channel to 11 if neer and 6 if far, make sure you have SSID broadcast enabled.

3. This models allow you to restart the AP unit and the router unit idependently, so it's always good pratice to restart your AP in the tools and system comands menu.

Hope that helps.

Cant connect my laptop wirelessly...

Try to reconfigure your wireless network on your DI-524.

To access the configuration page of your router by Default type in on the address bar On the login page by default the Username is admin and leave the Password blank.

If inside the the configuration page of the router

>Click Home
> Click on WIRELESS located on the left side and you will have the wireless setting of your network
> Change the wireless network name
> Under security choose either WEP or WPA -PSK for this type of router.
> Type in your new network key (also know as Passphrase of Key1).

For WEP use 0 to 9 Number or A to F character and it should be exactly 10 characters.
For WPA-PSK you can use alpha numeric from 0 to 9 and from A to Z. The minimun character would be 8.

> Click on apply
> Click on continue.
Try accessing your wireless network first using your wireless computer. If you are connected to your wireless network try connecting to the Internet.
