Hi, I recently dropped my Zen M 30GB in the Mop Bucket (not good). I quickly opened it up and set about drying all internal boards. This is the second time I have done this and so was pretty confident it could be saved. However, in my haste I pulled off the power connector on the Motherboard.
I have tried to solder this back on but don't have the Hands for such delicate work! So I kinda made a bit of a mess of it and was only able to solder on the Red & Black Terminals. I couldn't solder the White as the solder tab has disapeared!
I am guessing I will need a new Motherboard as the connector is a little deformed through the heat of the soldering iron.
Thanks in Advance
I'm sorry to have to tell you this, but its toast. A new mother board would likely solve the problem, but thats not something you can just walk to your local computer store and pickup. And you probably won't be able to purchase one online, but it is possible, you can get iPod parts, so why not creative parts.
I would however recommend getting a brand new mp3 player. Like you said, you don't have the hands for delicate solder work, so even if you are able to get a new motherboard for it, it may be more than you are able to do. And a new mother board may cost almost as much as a new player, but you'd still be stuck with the 30gb capacity.

have you tried doing a Software re-set. (Hold the On/Off button in the On position whilst pressing the Reset button). Then try re-charging. The device will take about 10-15mins before it responds if the battery is completely flat.
well, if this this recent, you should quickly get dring, usually, a hot fan would work, if you have a Dell Dimension 4700, there's a fan at the back, use that to fan off for a night or two, seccessful drying occurs when there is a cloud of water on the screen, like, it'll look dry OK? if it's too late, beleive me, Drop it in the water AGAIN, then immediatly dry it, i guarentee a chance of 75% seccessful rate. If you used Acronis, you need to clone the 30Gb and not backup. In doing so, the booting information is likewise copied to the 80Gb, whereas back up is simply copying contents (that you specified) hence will not boot and not be active.
Pls remember that by cloning, Acronis would erase the partition (and contents) of the 80Gb. At certain settings, it would also split the 80Gb into 2 partitions; 30Gb & 50Gb. Further, verify that the 80Gb is "Set Active" and partitioned as a Primary and not Logical.
As to your other concern of installing, in some instances, some not so recent motherboards' BIOS/CMOS will not recognize the 80Gb. Other than that, you were doing it correct; new 80Gb as primary/master with jumper to the pins nearest the IDE cable, any other device (CD ROM or another HD) should be set as primary/slave (SL). Additionally, pls verify that your motherboard auto-detected your new 80Gb as your primary boot media (settings in your CMOS/BIOS).
Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.
The water has interfered with the circuit board in the back which controls the functions of the phone. You need to replace the phone. Since you bought it recently, i am assuming you have warranty so you should have no problems returning it. Good luck!
open the mobile phone and pls ur hands should be dry now open then the board and use a cooton swab dipped in very little (pure )gasoline and start to rub on the circuit board
and let it dry ,, u have to be certain that all areas are covered and now assembnle it it will work
